Hi all,

Jack and I were eating lush carrot cake yesterday. And both said at the same time "I wonder if Disney do a carrot cake for wedding cake"

So I just checked the list on Magical Kingdoms and carrot cake is on there.

Now this is where a UK/US confusion happens as to us Brits, Americans have a funny taste in sweet/savory combos sometimes (syrup and bacon springs to mind, very odd to English folk) and I wanted to check that when the cake filling flavour list includes 'cream cheese' it means sweet, carrot cake icing kind of cream cheese?

Sorry if this is really odd, feel free to ridicule. I just wanted to be sure!

Mmmmm.... syrup and bacon.... :cutie:

Carrot is on the big list of Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings cake flavors, which can also be found in our Post Your Wedding Cake thread, here:

We had cream cheese frosting on our red velvet wedding cake, and it seemed slightly less sweet than regular buttercream but sweeter than the kind of frosting you usually get on carrot cake. Are you going to have a chance to do a cake tasting? You could request the carrot cake and the cream cheese frosting and see what you think. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the fast reply Carrie. :goodvibes: I will try syrup and bacon one of these days, you should try it the english way though - thicker, not crunchy and served in a sandwich with ketchup! Mmmm, there goes my diet!

I doubt we'll be able to get back to WDW until our wedding trip now, so sadly we wont be able to have a cake tasting. Although we talk about a first week of December trip daily, to taste cake and make use of our APs.

We loved the carrot cake from the Mara, so are hoping it's pretty similar. Glad to hear the cream cheese is sweet. We are also thinking carrot cake with white chocolate mousse could be tasty!

Stacey is planning a cake tasting for when she arrives in wdw for the wedding (if your arriving a few days before maybe you could do that?) otherwise I'm there the beginning of December and will volunteer myself to do the cake tasting on your behalf haha!

Oooh - really? I didn't know you could do a tasting that close!

We arrive on the thursday and our wedding is the tuesday. I wonder if it's do-able?

If not then you are 100% permitted to do the tasting on our behalf! Heehee.

Hi there...

I read your post and had to laugh... I am a cake decorator and baker and I just had my 1st bride and groom from the UK. One of their 1st comments was "could we please not mix sweet with sour".

just to make it easier for you to understand... When making cream cheese filing, we usually mix 4 cups of confectioners sugar to every pound of cream cheese, plus Vanilla extract to take away any sour taste.

Cream Cheese filing is less sweet than regular buttercream but it's very good and it's amazing with Carrot Cake... trust me, if you love Carrot Cake already you will love it even more with Cream cheese filing...

If you would like to try it, I could email you instructions on how to make it at home so you get an idea if you can't taste it at Disney:cutie:

Thanks so much for that. :) I'm confident now that I know exactly what you're talking about and that we'll love it!!

Our guests are going to find it so wierd to have a carrot cake for a wedding cake, but I can't wait. In the UK we always have yucky fruit cake, the US has a much tastier approach!

Oh yeah because we are going to be in Orlando for so long (just less than 4 weeks) we are going to have a tasting session when we arrive just to 'make sure' we like everything we have picked.

We are going to go with the Carrot cake with cream cheese Icing (after Andrea sold me on it after saying it tasted like they had melted butter on the cake and said it was VERY good) and will have marble / or almond cake with ameretto mousse. And hey, anything but the nasty fruit cake ... im sure your guests will love it!

So yeah, obviously you are thinking what I thought.... but I will sure let you know what it tastes like!

bacon and ketchup sarnie .... Damn Tor! ... now im hungry!! :goodvibes

I am an odd Brit who LOVES maple syrup on my bacon!!!! I have a local coffee shop who serves an American breakfast and I always ask for a seperate plate and eat the sausage and toast first (with ketchup) and then I smother the bacon and pancakes with the syrup!! Yummy!!! They think I am really odd at that coffee shop as being in a sleepy Cumbrian town, I don't think they understand much of the American breakfasting habits!!

You absolutely CAN'T go wrong with carrot cake and cream cheese frosting :lovestruc

you see Andreah ... they are the photos that sold me .... mmmm that cake looks delish!

Ooooh, thanks for all the lovely info - and especially for the photo andreah!! :)

We are definitely going for Carrot Cake and Cream Cheese for our big bottom layer!!

We are thinking chocolate cake an peanut butter cup filing for the top layer. Anyone had this combo? We loooove Peanut Butter Cups!

We had carrot cake and cream cheese for one layer. Then our big layer was the chocolate with peanut butter cup filling. We had a third layer which was orange with orange filling (really good not strong at all). All the layers were big hits and you will especially love the chocolate one if you are a PB cup fan!
