Day 2
Thursday 11th August
The BIG Day!
Woo hoo! Were going on holiday!!!
We left the hotel and arrived at Gatwick at about 9.30. We dropped the luggage off at the desk and went through security to have some breakfast and to shop.
We had quite a nice breakfast in Est Est Est.
Gabriella bought a pink mini I-pod and Gianni bought a Nintendo DS ok so they went on my credit card (think of the cashback
) but they are paying towards them.
After buying magazines for me and sweets and sandwiches for the children it was time to make our way to the gate. By the time we got there we were amongst the last few people to board. Where did the last 2½ hours go to??!! Thank goodness we got to the airport early and not an hour before like youre allowed to!
Flight VS015 took off at 12.40. There was a problem with the entertainment system for a couple of hours the films kept flicking over. When it was eventually sorted I watched Guess Who?, Friends and the Office.
We had the seats that Id pre-booked 60 A, B & C and 61 C. The seat next to Enz was empty so we had plenty of room to spread ourselves over!
The main meal was quite nice. Enz & I had pre-ordered low-fat meal because I dont really like the sauces and because Enz wanted to copy me
We had salad, rice, a very tender piece of chicken and veg, bread rolls and dried apricots. Gianni had the kiddie meal of nuggets, mash & carrots, yogurt, fruit, cookie and a drink. Gabs had a vegetarian tikka masala, salad and dried fruit.
The snack before landing was: For the Low-Fatters & The Pescatarian - ½ a salad wrap and a bag of fruit and for the Child a jam sandwich, a cheese spread sandwich and fruit. The children didnt like theirs which is where the airport bought sandwiches came in handy.
We landed, bumpily, at about 4pm. After all the security checks and multiple luggage collections, we finally made it to the car hire desk where we resisted the temptation to upgrade the car to the next level for $130. The luggage only just fit into the truck of the Sebring! Any shopping we do will have to go in the back with the children on the way back!
We found the Virgin Holidays office on the US27 where we collected details of our Villa at Tuscan Ridge. It was quite a drive it seems so close to The World on the map!
The villa was lovely so clean. The first thing I did was check the oven not that I intended to do any cooking lol
We unpacked then headed to the nearest supermarket Publix for some supplies.
We ate a relaxed supper of bread, salad, ham & cheese. Enz & Gianni also had some Southern Fried chicken.
We managed to stay awake until 10 oclock then we just wilted.
