Website to help plan road trip?

We are hoping for a good deal in January, and possibly driving down from Eastern Shore of MD. This would be our first road trip, with dd's, 2 & 4 yrs old... Their longest trip has been about 6 hrs one way. I know that it will be long, but I was hoping to plan in a few fun stops along the way. Spending one night in a hotel going up and coming home... Does anyone know of a good website that could help me plan the road trip? Maybe interesting places to stop along the way, to give the kids a break and let us run around?
I can't decide if we should leave early am or later in the day... It would be nice if the girls slept for part of the trip.

If you are a AAA member you can use their web site to create an online triptik. It will give maps and directions, you can look for hotels and other things along the way. I believe it can give you attractions to look for along your route. I think you can use it even if you are not a member, but may not be able to get all the same information that members can get.

Not a website, but if you have a laptop I love Microsoft Streets and Trips because if I want to have a change of plans mid trip it tells you local restaurants, and points of interest if you select where you want. If you get the version that has GPS you can track yourself on the map and I believe you can update before your trip where there is road construction. Also, my favorite part is you can tell it how much gas you start out with, how many MPG you get and how empty you want the tank to get before a fill-up and it will tell you the closest town on your route. I've used it for trips through over 30 states.

thanks everyone! I was hoping to find some fast food restaurants with the little playarea's (like Chickfila) and maybe a chuck e cheese on our way up.
I thought we could leave super early, hit up a chickfila for breakfast, let the girls spend some time playing, then find a chuckecheese for lunch... and stop for dinner / hotel around 6 for the evening... I can't wait to check these out!
