Website Redesign Survey

Hi guys!

I just took a survey on Disney's vacation planning website that was geared toward a site redesign. On one of the screen shots there was navigation icon that said "My Disney Experience" and under it was listed FASTPASS+ and Magic Band and a few other things like Reservations and such.

ANYWAY, the FASTPASS+ and Magic Band thing caught my eye and I was wondering if any of you had heard anything about these? Is this that wrist band thing? Or were these just "filler" so they could do a legit looking screen shot?

So the recent decision to start enforcing FP times becomes a little clearer. And we thought corporate greed was dead at Disney.

Also the mock profile they used was "Haley Dumphy." We're huge Modern Family fans so I thought that was funny

FASTPASS+ or FASTPASS Plus might be the public terms for what internally has been called "X-Pass", part of the NextGen initiative. It will in some way involve being able to make a "ride reservation" in advance, as announced some time ago. The exact implementation details are unknown. A recently "leaked" document that purports to give details say it will be offered free to Deluxe and DVC guests, and for a price ($79, but it doesn't specify per day or length of stay) to others. It will also have some other features, and likely be linked to RFID wristbands, which is likely what "Magic Band" refers to as well.

I've always been saying that X-Pass was driving the changing the FP return enforcement, despite the fact that some claim that each and every time someone uses a Fastpass late they've personally been harmed and therefore that's the reason for the change...

Very interesting find! But please, please do not tell me they're considering calling it "magic band"... it sounds like an "as seen on tv" product. They can surely come up with a better name for it!

Does anyone find this Fastpass+ to be a good thing? Going to Disney sounds more like the planning of a business meeting than a vacation. This might just take the "magic" out of WDW for a majority that can't afford to pay up.

As long as it isn't too expensive, I'd use it. I like to plan and the ability to get more rides for my time sounds pretty good.

I have a problem with paying for something that for years has been free (Fast Pass) It was one of the things that they liked to toot their horns over that Other park. There has been talk a bout planning fast pass times like we plan ADRs now 6 months in advance. That is just over kill to me.

Why would enforcing the rules be corporate greed?

It presumes that the reason for the changes is to make room for the new system, or provide one set of enforcement rules for both, as a measure to fill more deluxe rooms and/or get a premium as a "pay-to-play" system.
