Webkinz? Cheap or Not?

I work in a store that sells Webkinz, and we are having a hard time keeping them in stock. We just got some yesterday, but only 2 kinds. It seems that the company is having a hard time keeping up with the demand, or so they tell us. We have many, many ordered, but we don't seem to get very many. They say things are very backed up. We have had them for probably close to 2 years, but they didn't really start to sell until the last 6-8 months. Now they go pretty quickly.

Delta is just a stone's throw from us. You don't happen to work at Christopher's do you? If so, you've probably waited on us as that is where all six of my daughter's Webkinz have come from. :rotfl2: Small World.

I've never heard of these before, they are cute! I'm already addicted to GoPets and Neopets, but my daughter might like these. She's always trying to take over my GoPets, her own thing might be nice! :lmao:

My daughter started talking about webkinz about 2 weeks ago. We actually spent the entire weekend driving all over CT to find them. We found some but we are on the hunt for the Sherbert Bunny. My daughter loves playing with it online and she is learning alot! She does the math questions. I love them!

My DD8 has 2 Webkinz, the Golden Retriever and the Platypus. I got both of them at the Jewel here. She loves this (along with Club Penguin), they are both all the rage. I even play some of the Webkinz games when she is at school! :goodvibes Its very cute!

DD has 4 and I was lucky enough to get two more to put away for Easter (the Hallmarks and stuffed animal shops have been wiped out, but we have a local restaurant with a small gift shop - apparently people aren't thinking to check there)- but I have written off finding the Sherbert Bunny!!!

she just signed on to the penguin site last night and was having fun with it - we are only doing the free stuff so far....I don't think I want her on the computer enough to warrent the $% per month......but I agree both sites are fun - and I have spent some time at Webkinz myself!!!!:)

What penguin site. And you said you did not want her on to warrant the $% per month... Does it cost money?

According to the lady at the Hallmark store, the Sherbet bunnys can no longer be ordered. She tried and only got one shipment, same with the LovePuppy at Valentines Day.

My DD7 got her first one about 2 weeks ago for having an excellent report card. She wanted one at Christmas but I had already gotten her a lot of LPS. Then last week our local store had a promotion going. All kids who signed up on that day only get to belong to a Webkinz club. After she (me) buys 10 she'll get a free Lil Kinz. They also showed us pictures of the Webkinz coming for fall and Christmas and let us (:confused3 ) pre-order them (paid 50%) which will guarantee we'll get them when they come in. I broke down and pre-ordered DD the Holiday Clydesdale (it's very cute). I also got her the gray and white cat which she knows is not hers until Easter.

Interesting to read about the 1 year subscription. I didn't know about that.

My DD7 and her friend (9) really enjoy playing with them online. Some of my DD's friends from school also belong and they send each other points.

One thing the store owner mentioned (when we bought her first one) was that apparently, WebKinz are HUGE in the East. She said she has had many people from the East Coast come in and call their friends to let them know she has "this one" etc. and then they buy them for them. They haven't caught on that fast here yet, but I'm sure they will. She had a nice selection of them before the special promotion. The WebKinz rep did say that the no more bunnies would be delivered before Easter but that it wasn't retired, just out of production.

I've told myself I will not get sucked into these as I did into Beanies. Besides, at $12 each, they are quite a bit more than Beanies were. Also, since the kids have to go online to earn points to feed their animals, etc. I don't want DD online that much. (And when she's online, I can't access these boards!:confused3 )

Between all my kids we have 20+. Our local Hallmark store has them in stock most of the time. No way should you pay too much on ebay.

DD got a little bunny last week. I think it was $8. She's having fun doing stuff on the website. Plus, you can interact with your friends who have them and are online. Seems like good, clean, inexpensive fun.

Oh, she got hers at a local teacher supply store. Hallmark had a few but not the one she wanted.

My daughter has 9, my son has 4 or 5. He doesn't play with his nearly as much as my daughter does. Their cousins came to visit from Newfoundland in the summer, and they each had one. They showed our kids how to play the games, etc, and then mine started collecting them. We have Skype on our computer, and my children play webkinz with their cousins online, while at the same time being able to talk to them. It has been a great way for them to get to know and interact with their cousins, who they had only met once before. As DisneySteve said, it's good, clean, inexpensive fun.

Also, for the person who asked, I believe that everytime you register a new pet, it extends your membership for another 12 months from the registration date. If my daughter gets a couple within a short period of time, she sometimes waits another few days to register the second one so it will make her membership last longer. Hope she's right!

My daughters have BUNCHES of these . . . and I have one myself. Since my daughters play with theirs almost every day, they're a good value. Easter's coming, and a Webkinz would be a great thing to tuck into a basket.

my DS is dying for a koala webkinz for his upcoming birthday. I have searched high and low for this thing. I know they are on Ebay, but I am not paying $30 plus shipping for a $12 toy.

If anyone finds one any online, please let me know. I have checked Carleton and Hallmark, and the Webkinz site almost every day. But, so far a no go!

I emailed my sil, her mom owns a small gift shop and carries them. They aren't that popular here so maybe she will have one for you. I will let you know when I hear back from her.

I can't believe how popular they are! I guess I should contact my ganz rep and place an order for them before the hype hits our area.

we have the grey cat with backpack that has never even been played with. Well she did pile a bunch of toys into the backpack on day.:cutie: The plastic cover with the code etc is still attached to the cat because she is only 3 and doesn't get online. .If they are this popular maybe I will try and list it on ebay, since she has no desire for it. then she will have more disney $$.

sorry I didn't get to answer this sooner, boards were down..

it is Club Penguin - you don't have to pay to go on and play, but you can do more if you pay. It is only $5 a month - less if you pay for more months...just not worth it for the short amount of time I allow DD to go on - and then she splits her time at other sites...

guess DD is lucky to have gotten the Valentines puppy....it seems the professional Ebayers have caught on as well as our kids - that is where all the Sherbert Bunnies are - I am NOT intersted in paying $30-$40 for one!!!!

I luckily found 1 sherbert bunny at a local store. I called 10 in the area and they had one so I ran right out to pick it up. DD loves it, she was having a bad day so I gave it to her early. I was excited and couldnt keep it untill easter. She is also giving the yorkie for a birthday gift friday to a girl.

Does Gantz set the price? The reason I ask where I got sherbert they all were $13.99. I had bought the other ones for $10 in 2 other stores.

I know - I was used to paying $10 - but the new price around here seems to $11.99.....

My DD5 has recently asked about these and after looking on E-Bay I can see this is like the Beanie Baby craze (which I fully go in to).

So, I called around some stores today and one by my work said they just got a shipment in so I am going at lunch to see what they have.

Is there a webite(es) that have like a forum to discuss these (like which ones are new and rare and retired - that sort of thing??)

Lynn - not sure it has gotten that far yet - I think if you go to the Webkinz site - they have a checklist the kids can use as a wish list - I think that might show some of the retired ones, but not sure how comprehensive it is....:)

https://www.beallsflorida.com/pagecodecheck.jsp

BeallsFlorida had them today on sale. it said 15% off everything and they are $12.99, so they should come up as $11.04, but i just went to order 6 of them and they came up at $9.38?? I went through Ebates to get 4% back. Shipping for the 6 was $7.95. So after Ebates and Shipping, i figure I'm only paying $10.27each. Its cheaper then i could get them for around her if i could find them!
