Web based interview questions

Hi everyone! I'm the mom of a student who just did the e presentation, application and web based interview. I have some questions, because while I really thought my son answered honestly and am very proud of how he handled the questions, I am very surprised that he was not selected to proceed to the phone interview.

My questions are this:
1) Could just ONE question throw the whole thing? He was going way to fast (in my opinion anyway) through the questions (the questions with the 20 second limit), and he clicked agree to something he disagreed with, which most people would disagree with, (don't remember the question), and he clicked next, so it was too late.

2) I felt he may have been somewhat inconsistent with the second section in comparison to the first, I'm guessing this has something to do with not being accepted?

3) There were a couple of questions I feel he should have answered differently, such as a question about a 5 year old hitting his thumb with a hammer. My kid answered that he would comfort him, and I'm thinking the correct answer would be to fix up the thumb.

Just wondering if that one question that he flew through and clicked on the answered that represented what he DIDN'T want to say, was what did it, or do you think it was a combo of the above?

Also, do you think it's cause it is so late (he was going for Fall 2010)?

He's alittle disappointed, but he knows he has at least three more shots at it.

Thanks for any info that may help.

Did he answer all the questions with strong answers? Such as strongly agree/disagree and on the number portion use 10's and 1's only?

I put comfort the 5 year old also but I was selected and he wasn't too late for the Fall program either as I literally just did my application 2 or 3 days ago. Answer strongly was probably his problem.

It definitely is about consistancy... it's like personality tests. They throw in reverse wording questions.

However, what your son's answers were are his own. What he said about the 5 year old is what he would do - you can't tell him the "right" answer, because that's what you would do, and it might not be what he does or what Disney would want him to do.

That being said, I'm sorry he didn't pass, because getting rejected is not fun at all, I know. The good news is that in September, he can apply again - it took me a few tries too.

Yeah I missed the consistency part. That plays a big role also.

Yeah, all that little stuff really adds up! I'm sorry your son didn't get in, but he can always try again next time. He just needs to be honest, consistent, and take his time.

Hi,

Thanks very much for this comment. It help me to think about my ideals.

Tks again and pls keep posting.

Consistency for sure. You have to read and re-read some of them. And don't rush. 20 seconds is long enough to read and answer, rushing probably messed him up! Were you with him? I think maybe next time it should be just him, so he doesn't feel he has to answer a certain way and he goes with his gut feeling. They want honesty. And definitely make sure HE gets on these boards. There is some great advice about these web based interviews and if he really wants to get into the program he should get on here and read some.
