I'm planning a short trip with my dd11. Don't have specific dates in mind and open to pretty much anytime that i can find a combo of not missing more than 3 days of school, cheap flight and affordable disney prices. 1/15-1/19 looks pretty good. flight is only $379 both ways for both of us, resort/ticket prices low. But.....how's the weather? A big thing for her is swimming in the pool.

Haven't been there mid-January, but was there late December and mid-February last year. Weather can be quite variable in winter. Some days can be in the 80's, some days can be in the 50s. We lucked out and had days in the 80's each time. But even then, nights were cool.

If I were swimming there that time of year, I'd want to do it mid-day during a warm spell, and with a heated pool. But then again, I don't like swimming in cold water.

It's soo hard to say. I was there one year in January and it was colder than it was back home in MA. People were wearing towels under their ball caps to keep their heads warm, wearing socks on their hands as gloves and the stores were almost unmanageable because people were just sitting in them to keep warm. If our goal had been to swim on that trip we probably would have been very disappointed. We were fine as we had left MA with all of our winter gear and just used that to keep warm, the Luau was cancelled multiple evenings because of weather which was really the only thing that was a bummer for us.

Very good chance it will be cold, however it could also be pretty warm. No way to know until about a few days out. You can plan for temps in the low 80's, but also be prepared to pack clothes for temps in the 30's or 40's

We came back this year the same time frame as you are thinking and we were cold at night and first thing in the mornings so we wore sweatshirts and then carried them through the day. I went the last two years in January / February and it was chilly. (A few years back there were even flurries over the castle). We booked a trip for 2017 (99 days to go) and we are going early Feb. My girls will miss 4 days of school b/c of the presidents holiday. (we leave the week before the holiday and hoping to do everything we want that week and then just take it easy for the last weekend when it is more crowded). My girls love to swim as well and POR and CBR have heated pools so cold weather didn't stop them from swimming.
