SO I am headed down a week from today. Just checked the latest 15 day forecast. Looks like the highest we are gonna get is 60 with lows in the low 40's at night.

It is a good 40 degrees warmer than here. Would anyone swim in this? My kids are diehards, they will want to. Are the pools heated enough for this?

We gotta have it at least low 70's to swim....but the hot tubs feel good!:goodvibes (It's the getting OUT part that's a real pill.)

We went last January and the forecast changed DAILY and I could not rely on that extended outlook. So pack a variety of things and shoot for layers!:thumbsup2 We had 50's-70's over our long weekend during the day and 40's-50's at night + some thunderstorms. So you will want to go prepared for anything!

popcorn:: We're headed there too (in 12 days) and the 24th of January reads flurries :scared1: Seriously :scared: How likely is this?

Ugh - I am heading down there from the 21st-25th. I hope the forecast changes for the better but even low 60's are better than what I will probably get in NJ. It even shows rain for one of the days so hopefully that changes too. I'll be down their also the first week of August so I'm sure I'll get my share of rain then.

I'll take it, if I could just feel the warmth of the sun on my face a few times over our 3 night stay. :goodvibes
Let's all think warm, sunny thoughts!
:hippie:

It is 12 here now so really, what am I complaining about! My kids were talking about Blizzard Beach today I was like.....are you crazy!

That sounds pretty typical for Jan. weather - at least the several times I have been. We had below freezing temps once also in Feb. while at the World, and last year at Vero Beach, over New Year's, we had below freezing weather. Daytona actually had light snow, so, I guess anything can happen! The swimming part depends on you and what you consider cold, I guess.

Yeah it is the single digits here too and we go in 2 weeks. But I hope it is in the 70s or 80s when we are there.......I'm greedy.

It was like that this November 16 - 20th maybe. There were very few in the pools, but we went in, DGC mostly, twice. I enjoyed it one of the days, but for the most part the pools at BCV were empty.

I was at BWV over NY week, and the pool wasn't too bad if the sun was out. It was hard going in it, to get wet, but on the sunny days there were more people in the pool than there had been in November, but it was in the 70's then I think.

Bring your winter coat and gloves, it will get cold in the parks at night.

The pools are heated.

From another Minnesotan: Your kids will swim. You may not. :teeth:

P.S. If you bring the hats and gloves for the evenings, the kids will wear them.
If you don't, you will buy them there. :)

I agree. We leave next Saturday and saw it may hit the 30s at night. We were there in October and they broke records for the coldest while there and we froze even with sweatshirts, went again in November and it was cold again, but had the hat and gloves and coat and I was comfortable at night. Leave next week and again only the 60s during the day. (I'm not doing really well lately with the warm weather.) Since they are calling for the high 20s here, the 60s will be OK. Today is packing today and I find this time of year to be extremely challenging. The weather does change often, but sweats and gloves are high on the list. A swimsuit for the hot tub.

I pack earmuffs. If my ears are OK, it just feels better to me.

Okay we'll know who to blame now!!!;) :rolleyes1

weather.com is showing it being warmer (70's), but accuweather is showing 60's for daytime highs. I'll take the other forecast (laughter). I always use Kissimmee to check weather forecasts for Disney.

This is so funny. We took my dad to Hilton Head in November and they had record cold. He said, just watch, you take me to Orlando with you they'll probably set a record for cold - :lmao:

I live here... Today it is sunny and beautiful, I bet it gets to 70. You never know about our weather here. I would suggest bringing layers to wear, that way you can shed the clothes during the day, and put them on at night. i even bring jeans to the parks to change into (but I have a stroller so that is easy).

I just went over the SSR to check out the BLT models and felt the pool, it felt like it was in the 80s, so your kids might be able to swim.

Thank you! That makes me feel better! I used to live their too, in Plantation so not sure how much different it is up there!

Definately gonna do the layer thing.

When we went last year over MLK it was highs of about 20 here in Maryland and cooler than normal in Orlando (50's and windy one day). Knowing that we were leaving in frigid cold and returning to frigid temps we all wore our ski jackets with the zip out linings + we had our gloves & hats. They were annoying on the plane (we stuffed them in the overhead bin) but it really worked out well to be able to take the linings out and either wear the outer shell or the fleece linings while in WDW. We wore jeans and I also packed jeans + I took those convertible zip-off cargo pants for DS and DH. Those were great on the days that it DID warm up enough to do shorts for awhile. We rented lockers at the front entrances so we could shed our layers / zip off pants as the days warmed up and then retrieve stuff for evening when the sun went down and it cooled off again. The lockers are only $10 up front with $5 refundable when you return the key so a net cost of $5 / day. You can also take your receipt to the next park if you park hop so you don't have to re-rent. I highly recommend the lockers for a winter trip when you have extra stuff to carry around on a day with moderate temperatures.:thumbsup2

I know. I feel the same way. It's getting old. Hopefully my May/July and August trips will be warmer. I've been packing all day because you have to pack such a mixture of stuff when the weather changes very quickly. (Also the laundry soap too in case I get stuck wearing my sweatpants the whole week.)
