Weather-wise...which month to go/not go?

I'm thinking of planning a SW/DC trip for my family, but not for a year or so. We are school-teachers so travel dates are limited to summer, spring break, and long weekends. I hate the heat/humidity of summer, so when should we go? How crowded is SW in June compared to WDW? What about Columbus Day or Veterans Day weekend...too cold for DC? (we're from the midwest, so anything in the 80's with sun would be awesome!)

You could go for spring break in April if you really hate the heat.
But the high is about 83 starting out at 60 in the morning. Now, the temperature of the water doesn't vary, they keep it the same no matter what. It all comes down to how hot you want it when you get out of the water.

In June when the kids get out of school, the high goes up to 91 and you'll "feel" like you're on an island.

If you really hate the heat, then I'd say spring break in April. Otherwise early June as the kids get out of school.

I'd go for Colombus Day personally. I also hate the humidity of summer, so we go in October every year now and I've never had it below 75 degrees, and normally it's over 80.

Plus as mentioned before, the water at DC is always kept warm (apart from the dolphin pool), so I don't think you'll notice it not being hot no matter when you go.
