The weather for our trip shows highs right at 70 and lows in the upper 40's. I'd planned on packing shorts. Should I take them out and just pack a couple of pairs in case, but mainly pack pants/jeans? I'm taking short sleeve shirts (with long ones to layer underneath), a sweater/sweat shirt, and hats/gloves/coats. Also have raincoats and ponchos. Am I missing anything?

Thanks!

Your plan sounds good. I've been there around this time of year and if it's below 70 during the day it gets cold after dark. You'll appreciate the gloves and hats if you are outside at night at things like Candlelight Processional or MVMCP.

I would switch to mostly long pants or at least cropped with one or 2 pair of shorts. The shirt options sounds smart. It is always best to layer here. Also that hat and gloves are a smart idea. Ears and hands seem to be the first things to get cold. :sunny:

For our late January trip last year we found that nylon jogging suits worked really well. Very easy to pack. You can layer underneath (with tees and/or turtlenecks if it's really chilly) but take off the jacket if you want and even tie it around your waist if need be. They're not too hot if the weather warms up. And if you get wet on rides they dry quickly. DH and I wore polartec vests over jogging suits on one night, and for the kids they were warm with light nylon polartec lined jackets. We were only able to wear shorts one day out of seven (of course that was the one day we got completely soaked on Kali River Rapids 3 times in a row, LOL). I agree, carry gloves just in case, especially after the sun goes down.

I had to laugh at the lifeguards by the pools, they had hats, mittens and scarves on. :rotfl: HTH, enjoy your trip. :wizard:

We will be there 12/10-12/12. Should we even consider bringing a swim suit? I don't think we'll have time, but you never know.

Gloves and hats for MVMCP???!!!! I'm leaving MN for the weekend to get away from them!!!! :rotfl: Ok, ok...I'll pack my lighter pair...geeesh!

No sandals?? Can't get away with sandals this time of year??! Just once I dream of wearing sandals in December and not being insane!!!! :p

I would pack more long pants than shorts. We went in Dec. '04 when a cold front came through and oh my was it freeeeezing. :cold: I was so glad that I brought lots of pants, sweaters, gloves, a scarf and a coat.

Have a wonderful time. :goodvibes

Am leaving tomorrow morning for a week. I've packed jeans, capri's, shorts.
Long sleeved shirts, short sleeved shirts and 2 tank tops. A sweater and a fleece vest, cuddleduds (girly longjohns (top and bottom) and a hat and mittens.
Was there in 2003 and froze my fanny pack off and I'm from Seattle! The wind is what did me in. Never again.
P.S.
Weigh your luggage after packing all that!!

We're not taking any shorts. We're planning on jeans which we will dress up and down, and layer up and down, with shirts and sweatshirts. We are taking our bathing suits, because there are hot tubs, and we are each taking a winter coat, gloves, and hat. This last because we will be out at night quite a bit: MVMCP, Candlelight Processional, Illuminations, Wishes, Fantasmic, PI. It'll be chilly once the sun goes down no matter what.

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

I've been the first week in Dec. in 2000,'02, and '04. Clothes needed ranged from short sleeves at midday to heavy coats at night (all in the same day!) There were people in the pool last year, but I figured they were from the north and just thought it was warm! I'm going again Dec. 13- 18. I will check the internet for weather, but will take a wide variety of clothes no matter what it says!

Even when I lived in NY, I was surprised at how cold Florida could be. Somehow, 65 in FL feels colder than 65 in NY. I wonder if it's the higher humidity.

Anyway, your packing plan sounds good. i would definitely bring some pants and some shorts. Weather forecasts are just good guesses. In December, you really could run into any weather, so be prepared for anything--and enjoy!!

We just returned from our WDW vacation. We were there from 11/18 until 11/26. The weather was really nice with the exception of one really cool and windy day and a couple of afternoons with some light rain. We all wore shorts and t-shirts during the day, and switched to jeans and took our hoodies with us in the evening. The last three days it was in the high 70s/low 80s.

i just finished packing..i have shorts, tanktops, short sleeve, long sleeve, hoodies, jeans..im ready for it all :)
thanks for reminding me about gloves..i just put them in the luggage

Hey Susan,

Will you have internet access while down there? If so drop me a line on the weather so we can pack acordingly. :rotfl:

Thanks Again!
Eric

We will be there shortly after you and I am packing a few pairs of shorts, but mostly jeans and capris. Mostly tshirts, one or 2 sweatshirts and light jackets. I am hoping for warm weather so I am only taking a few days worth of cold weather clothes. I will be taking my gloves, scarf and hat as well as my hands and ears tend to get quite cold at night (and it's a mickey themed set, so i have to wear it!)

Actually, I will Eric. I'm planning on posting a live report.

I made the opposite mistake :) I didn't pack any shorts for myself. So, yesterday we had to run out to the outlet malls on exit 68 and pick up couple shorts for me.

Today, I have been wearing t-shirt, shorts, and birks all day and night and I don't feel cold. Maybe because I live in Iowa and just came from the snow storm in Cleveland :)

For rest of the week the temp seems the same. For me - shorts :)

Just finished packing. I have jeans, shorts, t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, windbreaker, mittens/gloves, hats, coats...

I could probably go away for a year with all this stuff! :rotfl:

Silk Long underwear. It saved us at The Candlelight Processional on Christmas night 2003. It is so small and we just added that under our clothes when the sun went down. It is wonderful!! We wore shorts during the day with wind pants and silks stored in a bag
Have fun!!

OOoh, that's an idea. I might take my long underwear. Sorry :rotfl2: We're used to going in Sept, I get cold very easily, and I know once that Fla sun goes down, I'm gonna need extra layers!

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Started packing yesterday  -kinda of crazy packing for FLA weather in December! I packed mostly pants and short sleeves for the day, couple of shorts just incase, then fleece jackets for night. And yes, hats and mittens as well. If anyone forgets their stretch gloves, have no fear...I will have extra's to give you in the WDW spirit of the holidays. Just look for the DIS'er with the lime green shoes :bounce: ! Oh, and yes, packing bathing suits, my children inform me they are swimming no matter what the temp :cold: ! Happy packing!
