Any of you SoCal locals have any idea how severe the storm will be on Sunday? Accuweather says "a couple of thunderstorms", Weather says "showers & wind".

So I'm leaving TODAY!!!!! and obviously it's gonna rain on Sunday. When they predict thunderstorms down there, is it more of a rain all day kind of thing or just a passing downpour?

I'm hoping this storm clears the parks and the cheerleaders go home out of fear of getting their hair wet and smearing their mascara! :rotfl2:

Also, we live up in the Central Valley and the bloom on the trees this year is killing us allergy sufferers! How's the air quality down there??

It's hard to say exactly what type of storm we will get. I have gone on days that were supposed to have a few early morning drizzles that turned into an all day downpour and vice versa. Just make sure you bring ponchos and an umbrella. Oh yeah, and a change of clothes.

I am going to be there Monday, I hope it keeps going till then!

The air is clear as of today, had a few breezes yesterday that probably helped. As for the "storm" it rarely is what the media makes em out to be. I think with a decent light jacket (windbreaker) you should be good to go.

A decent light jacket....! I wish!

Today here was relatively nice, much snow gone in the last month, but so cold nothing else went.
Now we have winter storm warnings! 15cm snow tomorrow and 20 cm tomorrow night! (that's just over 1 foot). If it all falls straight down, no problem, but it's to be windy as well and that means drifting snow, whiteouts, etc.

But it could be worse!! I could be in WDW! I'll trade place with anyone there! I'll take it for the team! :rotfl2:

Dh and I joke about "storm watch" on the LA news all the time. i went once where it was 70% chance (checked Weather.com before we left) and it did rain, but not very hard or long.

I agree with PPs that the news makes the "storm" sound worse than it probably will be. I'm sure that if there is any rain it will be minimal, especially since it is only forecasted for that one day and then it's supposed to warm up again. Of course, it's possible it could be a heavy rainstorm but that's not what I'm expecting.

As for allergies, I'm not sure how the pollen is right now because I have a cold but in general, my allergies are MUCH less severe down here than up in Northern California where I grew up. I used to have terrible allergies until I moved to Southern California. Not sure though if it takes awhile to get allergies out of your system when traveling to a new location, especially if pollen hitches a ride on clothes and other things you bring down. :confused3

Have a fun trip!

I think it's only a 30% chance on Sunday (that was this a.m. prediction-now it says 70%). But they are showing no chance Monday-Sat. So Sunday may be cold and rainy but the rest of the week looks great.

Our storms usually don't last all day and the forecasters get it wrong more than they get it right. The good news is if it does rain on Sunday, most of the locals will stay home. Bring a poncho and/or umbrella and have a great time!

Don't worry. The weather dome above the park will prevent most of the rain from entering the park. :rotfl:

Last I checked, they were predicting a 1/2" for the entire day. You should be able to enjoy the entire day. Just resist the temptation to buy the ponchos! By the time you get to the front of the line of tourists, it'll probably stop raining...:rolleyes1

yeah, ive seen a 90% chance of rain before but when i look outside, its clear skies...

hahah, weather are soo hard to predict...
