We are heading to Jacksonville to visit our daughter for the week who just moved there. I know Fl storms tend to come and go quickly, but the forecast looks like it will be cloudy with thunderstorms every day, in Jacksonville and Orlando. Planning on doing the parks Sat & Sun (SIL has never been but can’t take work off on from his new job). Honestly wondering if we shud reschedule the trip, as we’re in Nebraska and it’s an expensive, time consuming ordeal to get to Fl and we won’t be able to go often. My high school sophomore daughter is so excited for the beach and pool. Thoughts?

I would be shocked if it is all day rain. Most Florida rain is 1-2 hours. Quickly in and out in late afternoon.

I’d go and hope for best. You will never be able to predict weather/time it perfectly.

Exactly!

The year we booked the week right after New Year's, it was beastly cold here in St. Louis with 80-degree highs forecast for our week at WDW. We were really anticipating warm Disney weather.

Not what we got AT ALL. There were record lows three nights of our stay with actual snow on the ground at MCO one night for the first time in 30 years. Daytime highs were mid-40s with mid-20s windchills.

Of course, the day after we left was back to 80-degree highs and otherwise normal weather.

FL weather is completely crazy. Go, hoping for the best, which is all you can do.

If you are heading there this week and want to go to WDW on Sat and Sun? Have you gotten your tickets yet and made park reservations? I guess you can buy tickets and still not be able to get into any park without a specific park reservation. I was just wondering if this was a spur of the moment trip and last minute decision to go to WDW? I hope it works out for you.

The forecast will be the same until November.

The weather pattern lately has been hot and dry with a few short T-storms -- Not the 6-hour variety that can ruin an evening.

That said, I would much prefer to visit the parks anytime other than the summer.

Take a beach and pool trip and save your money for a Disney trip later.

it's going to be hot. It might rain. It might not. Thunderstorms might close outdoor rides and attractions. There might not be any thunderstorms the entire time you are here. It might rain at AK, but not at DHS and Springs. Welcome to Central Florida. We change seasons to 'not summer' sometime between Halloween and Thanksgiving. Otherwise, check the weather day of and/or hourly and you might get a decent prediction, or just as likely, you won't. Sunday afternoon, thunderstorms were going to crush all of Central Florida, and then, they miraculously disappeared for most of the area and the 6+ hour concert downtown Orlando went off without a weather glitch starting at 5:00.

I don't think we have been to Disney where the forecast has not said cloudy or mostly sunny with Thunderstorms. We have gone I guess 30+ times but who is counting. The storms in general pass fast if you are in a park that has one... Multiple times it is raining in MK and sunny in Epcot. The longest i have ever seen it rain is 4 hours and that was the best park time ever as it started around 8AM walked on every ride in fact that day we did 3 parks and every major ride with little to no wait.

As of now, they'll be limited to Epcot or AK only. Unless they buy hoppers.

We took a road trip over to Kennedy Space Center. Rain was forecast but not a drop. While we were there my phone was blowing up with severe thunderstorms at home. When we got back we were told that there weren't any storms. Welcome to Florida weather folks.

We were in Disney all last week and as many here have said, it was the quick afternoon thunderstorm, and then clearing. Ponchos and extra shoes recommendation are spot on. One day, we got lucky and timed our dinner reservation so well, we avoided the storm completely. Have fun and enjoy your family time!

Expect FL to be HOT/HUMID during June/July/August and it might rain on any given day. Weather forecasts beyond 2-3 days are usually unreliable since so many variables can impact the weather. Not sure there is any value in trying to 'time' your Summertime FL visit due to weather.

Like there have said, it's Florida. That's how it is at this time of year. It's HOT and humid and it storms at some point on many (most?) days. It's also hurricane season. That's just how it is. Unless you're rescheduling for Winter, this is what you're going to get.

I agree with the others. It's going to be hot and pop-up rainstorms are normal for Florida this time of year. Plan for rain with ponchos and rain gear, but know you may never need it. We went a few weeks ago and were prepared for rain. The second day we were there, the forecast called for no rain all night, but we ended up stuck on the monorail in the middle of a thunderstorm. You never know, but be prepared!
