We didn't know if we were going to be able to afford to go this year or not (had to get hearing aids for son and it was very expensive) but with the new plan we might be able to squeeze it out. My question is what is the weather like in August? Is it unbearablly hot? We are thinking about going at the beginning of the plan which is August 21st because my son's school (he's in third grade this year) starts the end of August, but my husband is concerned it will be extremely hot. Can anyone give me any ideas? I really want to go. If you look at going in September I know that can be affected by hurricane season and September would be harder for us any way. Any help is welcomed!!

Bad news:
August is the hottest month and it is also hurricane season (Charlie, Francis, Andrew, Erin). Humidity can be stifling.

Good News:
Not as crowded as June & July! You just need to be prepared for the heat, pace yourselves, and stay hydrated. A good plan would be to arrive at parks early and leave after lunch. Take a rest/swim and return after dinner. It is still hot at night, but only in the high 80's instead of high 90's.

Our daughter's birthday is in late august and we've gone down to celebrate almost every year.

Yes, it's hot, but you can adapt-instead of walking around in the parks from 12-3, hang out at the pool or your hotel room.

The crowds really thin out in late august and it's a great time to go! We love late august, early december, and mid january because while the weather may not be perfect, the lack of crowds and the more attention you get from disney CM's and characters definitely make up for it.

Don't worry about hurricanes, we've been through them and Disney weathers them very well...

The weather is EXTREMELY HOT in August. Just pace yourselves!! :cool1: And you can usually expect an afternoon thunderstorm daily (thankfully they are usually quick). Also, Hurricane season is technically June-November (I am almost positive). So you have the chance of seeing some bad weather during any of those times. And unfortunately they are predicting a very active year again for 2005!! Good luck and enjoy!!
