Weather question?

We are scheduled to head to Aulani 12/7-12/15 from a rescheduled 25th anniversary trip that we postponed from September when the governor asked people to delay travel. I know it is still relatively far out but the long range forecast I see doesn’t look terrific. I guess my question is when it rains is it usually a full day thing or like at Disney where it can be raining at MK and sunny at AK and it comes and goes quickly. If there is rain any suggestions for indoor activities? Also we are scheduled for the luau…how quickly do they cancel if rain is in the forecast?

Oahu has a variety of micro-climates. It could easily be raining on one part of the island and totally dry on another. Aulani itself is in what' considered the dry side of the island and doesn't get much rain.

It’s way to early to worry about the weather yet. Hawaii doesn’t see the huge storm systems that you guys have in the mainland. I never trust anything more than 2-3 days out.

As a general rule of thumb, if the clouds are rolling in from the lagoon or Four Seasons side, you’re looking at a storm system that will stick around all day. If the clouds are coming from the Marriott side or the golf course side of Aulani, it’s likely to be a passing shower. I’d plan my day according to the direction of the wind and where the clouds are rather than a weather app.

It’s STORMING today and I remembered this post. @Cliffside - it looks like today and tomorrow will see heavy rain but the rest of the week should be ok. Just stay out of brown water 🤮 and be wary of the lagoons if they take on a greenish hue.
