Weather In September

Hi we are coming from Canada and have never been to florida during hurricane season. We will be at WDW the last week in September and I know that hurricane season runs from June to November. What I would like to know is the end of September a good time to go? I just want to make sure that we are prepared. Thanks!

There is no way to predict. It's the high point of the season for FL but the odds of getting hit are probably slim. However there have been years where they come one right after another. I think you're just going to have to take your chances or come in the middle of the winter. Orlando usually does okay even when they do hit. I lot of us evacuate to there when we're under the gun.

We've gone in September the last two years (but probably not this year ), and have narrowly missed hurricanes both times. The weather in Orlando was great, hot and humid as usual. We also met many people from coastal areas that came to WDW to ride out the storms.

Is it safe to assume that the chances of them closing the parks is slim even if there IS a hurricane hitting other parts of Florida? I'm going the first week in October... just curious.

They have not closed the parks during our last 2 visits, but one hurricane hit the panhandle/Alabama, and the other was still offshore before we left. They have closed the parks a couple times in the past 2 hurricane seasons, but only when the storm passes over Orlando. I don't think it has ever been closed for more than 2 consecutive days, but I could be wrong.
