:surfweb: We have booked our first trip the first week of September. Was wondering what the weather is like at that time of year? We will be staying in our pop up which has a/c, will we need it, and should I bring the Mr. Heater along to or no? :confused3

I seriously doubt you'll need the heater at all.

In fact, typically I'd suggest that you expect hot, and humid. Honestly aside from maybe a 5 degree drop, really Sept isnt that much different than mid summer, especially in the daytime.

A/C- YES

Heater- NO

Average high in September is 90. Average low is 72.

To further emphasize, here are the avg numbers for Sept at Walt Disney World (from weather.com)

Avg. high 90. Avg. low 71 6" of rainfall on avg.

by comparison.

July. Avg. high 92 Avg. low 72. 6.5" of rainfall on avg.

In other words, down here, its still late summer in Sept.

Are the bugs bad this time per year to? And does the Fort do anything to remedy the situation either?

Yes. It will be part of the peak mosquito and bug season. Honestly I have found smoke works best. Citranella candles do work to an extent but smoke items work best Ive found.

find the mosquitto repellants where you light them and they smoke. I use the sticks that last about two - three hours a piece. They work well for us. I dont like using spray on items as they make me feel dirty.

The biggest pest will be lovebugs, no biting just pesky.

Also that time is peak Hurricane season... just be ready for that also... rain maybe every day around 4-5pm and gone in an hour.
