Hi, does anyone know a quick way to get stats on what the average temps for orlando jan-dec? We've been to DW in August and well, lets just say our irish/italian tempers got the best of us on most days in the heat. Trying to enjoy a nice warm environment where my kids could enjoy the pools and not be cold but at the same time don't want to melt or risk divorce from my crabbiness! (JK!!!) My husband is a saint but their is only so much one mellow fellow can take from a high strung type a lady such as myself!:)

we live in Florida and have been to WDW in both Dec and Jan. Ya never know what the temps are going to be that time of year. 1 year record breaking highs in the 80's, then 2 days later highs in the 40's. Same goes for Jan, although Jan seems to be a cooler month than Dec. The pools are heated and we have seen people swimming in 50 degree weather there, anything below 60 is cold for us!!!

We've been twice in January. After the second time I've decided I'm not interested in going in January again. Even if the deals are really great. It's so much more complicated to pack both your suitcase to get there and also when you leave your hotel room for the day. It seems like I have to take my whole wardrobe. It may be shorts weather or you may need a hat and gloves. Even if you check the weather before you go it still seems overly complicated. The lows may be in the 40s and the highs may be in the 70s.

Our first January trip was extremely cold. Orange crop killing cold. People were at the MK wrapped in their hotel bedspreads. My kids were freeeeezzzing even though we had coats and gloves. Not really fun. Most places at WDW are built to keep you in the shade so it's even colder. We wrote that trip off as a fluke.
We went again this January. It wasn't record setting cold but it was still cold in the morning and after the sun went down. I definitely wanted my polar fleece and jeans when I left the room in the morning. By 11am I was too hot but then cold again by 5pm. And no way was I going swimming. The pools were heated but you still had to walk back to the room all wet and freezing. Even the kids weren't really interested and they live to go swimming.

I know the whole thing about layers but lets face it, when you are the mom you are the one who has to carry the "shed layers" or the "jacket for later" around all day.

When we went in June it was so much easier. It was just plain hot all day. You don't even have to think about carry a jacket just in case.

We did go the week of Christmas one time. The weather was pretty good. Maybe we just got lucky. Or maybe there were just so many people everywhere you couldn't tell you were cold because you were squished up against the rest of the crowd! But that's another thread......

We went this year in the first week of February. NEVER AGAIN!!!! We all had sweatshirts on in every picture. We were all freezing the entire trip. Not fun at all. Every picture has someone windblown, shivering, and teeth chattering. All I can say is THANK GOD I made hats for everyone before we left, because they really helped keep us warm.
The worst part was trying to get home. "Snowmageddon" happened on the east coast and all flights and trains were cancelled. We had to rent a car and drive from Orlando to NJ. Complete disaster!

Discounts are good, but it is a huge gamble! There is nothing worse than getting home full of Mickey's joy only to have to shovel 2' of snow from your driveway!!

Hope that helps!

It's not so bad when your 19yr old son, who you didn't bring on the trip, is stuck home shoveling it all in your absence! :rotfl2: We went in Dec of 08 and the northeast was hit with a snow storm over the whole four days we were gone. :scared1: He did have his friends to help him at least.
