We're going to Disney in early October. What do I pack? Will it be warm enough for the kids to swim? Shorts? Pants?

Living in Illinois its normally pretty chilly in October, so I'm so confused what I should pack!

We've been a few times in October, I usually take at least one pair of pants and the rest shorts. Most pools are heated. Its usaully around 80 degrees.

We're from PA and we always go in early October. We're used to chilly weather and coats this time of year, so when we get there, the weather is always warmer than we're used to. Last year it was a low the one night of 72 degrees and we still got in the pool. It was heated, but not heated like I thought it would be. The daytime was very warm. It was highs in the upper 80's but not very humid. I took a light sweater to wear and never took it out of the suitcase. Bad thing is, I always end up getting a cold when we get home. I guess my body likes the Florida weather best! :lmao:

October is practically the perfect month in Central Florida for those of us transplanted from further north. The humidity generally begins to break in late September and the nights begin to get cooler, but the days are still warm enough to swim. You can be comfortable in shorts or slacks (but definitely bring shorts -- the days can still get hot), and you should not need anything more than a light jacket in the evenings.

Good to hear this!!! Our family is going to Disney in October. Never have been that time of year. We are looking forward to lower humidity than we experienced in June this past year!!! Can't wait to go!

To Harvest02, late October will be a bit more variable than early October. A lot of my neighbors have covered their pools for the winter by then (hard to believe!). I notice my backyard pool temperature drop from the low-80s to low-70s between the beginning and end of October, which means cooler nights and shorter days. But the days are still beautiful. You will appreciate it more than the kids -- mine hardly notice any difference between 95 and 25.

Thanks everyone! Hopefully my kids summer clothes wont be too worn out or small before we leave! :lol

Depends if you are going towards the begining or end of October. Last year we were there the end of Sept ~ first week in October and it is still HOT most days!

For October you should plan for any kind of weather. We have gone many times in October and while most days are shorts weather at night is does cool off. Last year in the 3rd week of October we had record highs the first few days (the 90's) and then record lows (60's) the next few days. Even though we are from MI the 60's were cool enough to need a sweatshirt because it was quite breezy too.

We usually go in Oct/Nov becasue the weather is nicer than in PA. It is still warm in the day, so bring shorts. At night the avg temp goes to about 60, so it is still comfortable.

We would still swim at night.

In all the times we went, we only got 2 hurricanes so make sure you have your rain gear too.
