Weather in June

We're thinking of heading to WDW as soon as the kids get out of school in June because airfare at Easter is just too expensive. We have always gone in March or April when the temperatures are comfortable and the humidity is low. I'm wondering just how hot and humid it gets mid-June. Are there daily afternoon showers? Is it as bad as July and August?

We are going for the Project X Dismeet (hopefully), and it will be our first time to WDW in June. I would also like to know what to expect from the weather at that time. The Project X Dismeet is from June 17-20.

I'm curious about the answer because I plan on taking my Grandma again(took her for her first trip, my second- in Dec). I had no wiggle room in dates between school and military commitments. We are going at the beginning of June which is still potential frost time at home.

We go every June. It's hot and it rains every day for a bit. Buy the 2 for $1 ponchos at Dollar Tree before you go and pitch 'em when it stops raining. The good thing is the rain typically doesn't last and often the parks clear out!

It is very hot and very humid in June princess: If you are from up North and not used to the heat yet.

We went in June 2002 and 2003. The first year it was hot with showers. They normally do not last very long. The second year it rained a little the day we arrived. For most of the rest of our stay it was unusually dry for Florida. The windows in the hotel didn't even steam overnight it was so dry. Of course, the sun is still very strong whether it is dry or humid. We got to the parks early and left before noon to avoid the crowds and heat. After resting at the hotel we went to another park for the rest of the day. Try to avoid the noon - 3pm sun and make sure everyone drinks a lot of water.

When we were there June 7-15 of 2002, it rained every day. Typically, the rain doesn't last but this was a bad June and it wasn't much fun with showers that lasted hours and hours. Friends of ours went the week after we returned and they reported it was even worse their week. We don't have a lot of hope for good summer weather. Actually, we had not terrific weather for Christmas this year as well so it's probably just us. We're jinxed for FL trips. We're not going in June so you should be fine, lol. ;)

Carla-thanks for not going in June. (just kidding) I know how it is to feel jinxed. When I was a teenager I went to a horse camp every June. I lived for that camp, dreamed about it all year. It seemed to never fail though, the weather would be terrible every time we went. The camp owners eventually started to refer to our family as the rain gods!

Hot hot and hot. But - doable :D I agree with the advice about getting out early (so many plan on doing it but don't by the time they eat breakfast and get everyone moving, so it is also great for riding rides before the real crowds get there), getting lots to drink and taking sunscreen and heat breaks.

July and August are even worse for sure. We went to the Star Wars weekend in May last year and it was close to 100 every day and I think you multiply that times 2 or so because of the Disney blacktop (atleast at MGM) and you get the picture :earseek:.

There are places in each park where you can cool off (shows or restaurants, movies or just shady nooks). Take advantage of them and don't try to push yourself too hard and you will love it.

If you are staying on property then try out the pools or other entertainment at Downtown Disney (now ask me how many times we have actually gone to see a movie, etc .... I am a park commando, but trying to change my stripes as we just joined DVC and we go down when it is not so hot and the park hours are shorter, so "all day" is not like all day in the summer). My children still nap in the stroller, so sometimes (if we are not going back to the hotel) hubby and I just find a cool place to sit and enjoy an icecream or some cold water while they nap. We all feel refreshed and ready to go again once they wake up.

One last thing....those fans with the water bottle attached to them...our sons both have one and they LOVE them and they do work. People around us are always asking for a squirt! It is a quick refreshing blast of mist just when you need it most.
