So me and some friends where planning on doing a Euro vacation in the beginning of January, like the 4th to the 18th, sometime in those dates we wanted to DLP for about 4 days or so. Looking into things, i looks like it is very cold during that time in Europe and possibly snowing. Does anybody know how the weather has typically been in the beginning/middle of january?

I went in Jan 2011 and Jan 2011 during the first week.

In 2010 it snowed and the place was so magical.

In 2011 it didn't snow the dates I was there but it was extremely cold.

Once you have a good pair of boots that are warm and cosy and wear enough layers, and get thermals you'll be fine!`:cool2:

I can only tell you that I found it absolutely bitter when I was there at the end of January this year - far worse in fact then the previous month when we were there in the snow. I was well prepared with thermals and ski wear but it was my face that really suffered and I had to keep a scarf over it with just my eyes peeping out (and watering!) beneath my hat. I must admit that it meant I just never braved the attractions most exposed to the elements and spent a lot of time in the shows and indoor attractions as well as the shops. I also took fewer photos as I couldn't bear to expose my hands. This was my one and only solo trip and I was glad I did not have my son with me.

On the other hand, as I said we were there just before Christmas in all the snow but the sky was brighter and it did not seem so bitter. Have also been in February with really pleasant warm weather so it is hard to generalize but I would advise being prepared for the worst.

Jan this year there were several days where the temperatures were negative all day and with the wind chill it made it seem up to 10 degrees lower again.

I had to put the heating on in the day this year all throughout Jan and Feb which shows how cold it was:scared1:

I agree with this. We went from 04.01.11 - 09.01.11
and it was ok. :santa:

We were wearing enough layers and thermals and it was a good trip with a lot of fun.

We will return to DLP in January 2012 !!!

Sounds like it is going to be really cold, Daft, thanks for the trip reports those were great. One more question, about how much english is spoken in the parks?, if nobody im traveling with speaks french will we have a hard time doing things, like ordering food, and getting directions to things? thanks again for all your help.

I do not speek any French and my English is......:scared1:.....but I never had any problems at DLP with my horrible broken speaking English. :rotfl2:

All of the CM were very helpful and nice.....:woohoo:

I'm terrible at completely forgetting my basic French at DLP and speaking English all the time - you won't have any problems, there are always staff around (especially at the hotels and in the main areas of the parks) who speak very good English.

We plan to go from the 3rd - 8th jan 2012 too ! Hope for a 40% deal.....:worship:

:woohoo: :dance3:  :cool1:

Well....we will be going even with no 40% :rotfl2: but it would hurt :scared1:

Do you ever think about getting AP´s and book the room only for one person ? Then you can add the other 3 persons to your room when you arrived.

We did this last this year and I will do this again. It´s cheaper for us.

I have vowed never to return at this time - we were there over between NYE and January in 2008/9 and I'm afraid it was so cold my Dad cried! My daughter had her blanket stolen from inside Planet Hollywood and I slipped down the stairs in Space Mountain and twisted my ankle (it's really dangerous this time of year IMHO, and with temps at -12c in the DAY, I will never go between Dec-Feb ever again!) I have been in November and it was mild, albeit raining, but my true heart lies with July and August and can't wait to return again soon :)

We just renewed our AP's! We are planning on booking a room in the sequoia for one adult and one child aged 11 as kids under 12 are free at that time... Then my bf and I will use our Ap's and my brother can have the ticket with the room and the 11 year old gets the free ticket... Then add 2 names on arrival and pay the tax! Thats the plan anyway... Its €277 per person for flights and hotel for 4 nights... not too bad!
