Weather in January

Tchibo looks like a coffee shop from outside, blue with yellow writing and then selss coffee and an array of homewears and sports clothing inside. Odd, but good. :)

No skiwear atm tho. Although I could have done with it in Surrey today.

So, I have been browsing skiwear online - for the upcoming winter trips.

And seems like summer's the time to buy! Cheap cheap!

Those snowboots look ace. Would I look like even more of a loon if I was walking about in a pair of them? :confused3 They look like they'd be really cosy and my feet get soooooo cold. The kids would love them too.

The golden wonders were from ebay, those ones you linked to are amazing for £25! Perfect for kepping kiddies feet warm and dry!!

I'm very tempted to get something like this!

I've been thinking about all the nice fleecey warm cosy clothes I can take with me too (imagine us all thinking about packing 5/6 months in advance :lmao: ). It's funny coz my feet have been cold today so I've had my furry boots on and been thinking all day I'll have to get myself a cheapy pair for DLP ;)

I was also thinking of having a look in Next for stuff for the kids because they had stuff last year that was like ski-wear warm and waterproof, that would be perfect for them.

Ah well, at least we'll all be prepared.

ukstitch The waterproof spray sounds good, any idea where I would get some?

Same Q from me too. And does it waterproof anything? Like if I bought some £10 cheapy Primark UGGs would it work on them?? Or does it need to be made of a 'real' material, lol.

Also, UKSTITCH, do you have a tchibo near you? Had lovely kids ski wear last winter! Wished it came in my size, although the ladies jacket I bought is lovely.

Sorry, I got delayed writing trip reports and reading DIS, but I appear to have missed these questions :)

Yes, I do happen to have a tchibo near me. It's a slightly odd place in that they change what they sell every couple of weeks, but sometimes they do some good stuff. That's where the bag for my Snowboard boots came from.

The waterproof spray can usually bought from most outdoor type shops. I think Millets tend to sell it I think, as do Woolworths apparantly. Mine came from a shops in Slovenia, but it's all the same stuff. It comes in an aerosol can which you spray onto your shoes and it's good for a few pairs of shoes.

I'm not sure about the Primark UGGs, but it should work. I think it works on most types of shoe materials though, so it would be worth a try, especially if they are cheap. with any luck, it should say on the back of the can.

Thank you :)

Anyhoo...off to bed now!

See you all tomorrow I'm sure!! xxxxxxx

Sweet dreams of DLH tonight!

Im off to bed too, i am exhausted. All this Winter preperation is tiring me out lol.

Aw they are cute (not the golden wonders :rotfl: ). I'm wondering if I can squeeze my feet into the size 4 of the kids ones, I'm only a size 5 :rotfl: do you think they would be big made? They do look fab, but wouldn't want to buy them for the kids just now incase their feet grew

Cool, thanks for that. I've got a few pair of the cheapy primark ones, one pair of which are 2 sizes too big (don't ask - they were a gift) so I think I'll pop to Woolies and then give that spray a try on them. Will let you both know if it works.

I'm off to bed now too guys. Sweet dreams of DLP (and DLH for you torsie) and no doubt I will see you both here tomorrow ;)

If you've got several, then it might be worth spraying the ones that are too big and testing them in the rain. Just make sure you spray them well and let them dry properly.

Yeah that's what I meant, sorry didn't make that very clear. I'm gonna go into Woolies tomorrow and see if I can find some and then the next time it rains I'll try it out and see if it works. That way it wont matter if I wreck them as they're too big anyway ;)

Cool, let us know!! :)

Can't believe we are wishing in winter!

If you do get EMH in January is it still dark?!? How lovely if it is!

And do the twinkly caslte lights stay on after xmas? Or are they jsut an xmas thing? I'd love to see it lit up like that!

Yeah it is dark, gets dark around 5ish so candleabration is in the dark which is lovely!

I'm so excited about January, Ive already listed most of Kyras winter clothes from last year to make money to get her some for this Winter.

It is still dark in the mornings from mid-November on to January for morning EMH (it was just getting light, but still gloomy, when were heading to the parks for around 8.15am in the mornings mid-November last year).

The candles stay on the Castle after Christmas season, but the thousands of little lights on the Castle are not lit after that.

We wre there in Jan 07 and it was COLD COLD COLD

But as long as you have hats, scarfs and gloves and layer up well you will be grand.

I bought the boys salopettes but they only wore them one day

I can vouch for this, it was a nippy icy burning stinging type of cold!...good fun but!!!:rotfl:

ski suits all the way!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

we were there near the end of Jan this year. At night it was dipping into the minus's but it was sunny most days. However we did have to buy some hats as our ears got very cold during the mornings.

it was however fantastic being in the parks for the sun coming up with frost all over the place
