I know you have all probably heard this question a million times. I went back and did a search and I still have one more question about it. I'm thinking of bringing jeans and long sleeve tees with short sleeve tees over it (remove long sleeve when hot) for a few of the days for the kids. Do you think on warm days they will just get too hot in jeans or have those of you who've gone in December been okay in jeans and not had to change into shorts? Thanks!

Hi
Last year, I went for the first 2 weeks in December and the weather was fantastic. My DD who was 4 1/2 always wore skirts or shorts with t-shirts. I did carry a cardigan because it got chilly in the evenings; it only rained once and we happened to be at Sea World where the animals were having a blast.

Hope this helps

No, jeans will certainly not be too hot in December. I was at the world last week and wore jeans all week, even with plenty of sunshine I didn't get too hot.

We have been three Decembers in a row now, and although last December was pretty warm, it can get bitterly cold at any moment! I wouldn't go without hoodies and/or sweatshirts for the kids, especially if you're going to be out and about after dark.

December weather can be cold or warm. We went a few years back and ran into the full spectrum of weather. Our week started with jeans, tees and sweatshirts and ended in shorts and tees with the occasional use of swim suits at the pool.

I recommend bringing some of everything.

If the weather is like it was for us this past December, upper 70s and low 80s, jeans might get a little hot some days. My DD and I wore short sleeve shirts and capris most days, and my husband wore shorts or jeans. He wished he had had more shorts. Remember you're doing a lot of walking and it will seem warmer in the parks than the same temperature would at home. I think the idea of short sleeve shirts over long sleeves is a good idea. Do throw in some gloves and light jackets in case you do run into a cold snap. And have a great time. It's a fantastic time to go!

The last 2 years we have gone the 2nd week of Dec and it was OK for long pants and jeans. The average day temp is 68 and it goes down to about 48 at night.

In 2006, there was a cold snap that brought the temp to only 38 one day, so it was a good thing we wore our "Northern" clothes on the plane!!

Remember, in Dev the sun goes down around 6pm, but the parks are open until 9pm. You will need warmer clothes for the nighttime either way. In Dec it is not humid, which is the really killer in long pants!!!

We did exactly what you said, with a sweatshirt or jacket over and just changed layers as the day went on. If it seems like it's going to be a hot day, you could always bring shorts to the park, too, but I think you would be cold wearing shorts all day.

We were in Orlando Dec. 11-19. DS11 wore shorts 3 days and was fine. The rest of us wore pants, sometimes lighter weight than jeans, and were fine. We wore short sleeved shirts. Put on jackets 2 or 3 evenings. If you are coming from a cold climate it may feel pretty hot to you!

Have a great trip!

We to were at WDW in December last year. There was a bit of a warm front, according to the locals so it was warmer than usual. The week before we got there was cold.

Everyone has great suggestions. I love to wear jeans, but I think they are too hot for an all day outing like going to a park. With the walking and the sunshine you will get hot in jeans. My DD and I wore capris and t-shirts and DH wore long shorts. The one night I wore long, thin pants to dinner at the Castle and I was hot afterward. We were at the MK until 11pm that night and it was very pleasant. Still the warm snap though.

SO, I would do the layering, but not with jeans. If you have cotton pants or something similar and layer your shirts, you will be fine. The rain can come at any time, even when it is sunny, but it is usually quick and light. We hit heavy rain on our last full day at MK. Still very warm, but we got soaked. Make sure you have one set of dry clothes for the kids, at least. It is a pain, but take them with you every day and you will not regret it. We changed my DD's clothes on two different days.

Have a wonderful time!!! Early December is a great time to go!!
