Weather in December

Hello all,
Hoping someone could give me a few pointers. Last fall we went to WDW in late September and the heat was too much, so this year we are booking (late!) for December, hopefully the first week. My question is, since my kids love the pools and we are hoping to stay at the Polynesian for the beautiful beach and pool area, is swimming out of the question?
I love the cooler temps for the parks, but if it's too cold, we may re-think this time of year.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Last year we were there from Dec 11 - 15 and it was chilly. I had a light jacket on all day, and in the evening wore a sweatshirt under that jacket. There was a LOT of rain...to the point that some of the MVMCP were a washout!!!

We did see a few brave souls in the pools, but not many. We are heading back again the same weekend, but plan on leaving the swimsuits behind.....

I was wondering about December weather also. We'll be there December 12-19. From what I've read on these boards, it seems that weather in December is quite unpredictable. I'm planning to take stuff for both warm and cold weather. I'll pack the swim suits, but I'm not counting on being able to swim.

We have been going the first 2 weeks of December for the past 6 years. All I can tell you is pack for everything. Last year was chilly, the year before (2001) was warm....warm enough for us to swim everyday, but not too hot for the parks. I don't remember it ever raining for more than 30 minutes at a time. It is very unpredictable. It is such a wonderful time to go though. All the Christmas decorations are up and the parks are uncrowded. We are from PA and used to cold weather, so 70 is perfect to us. I wouldn't go any other time of the year. Just pack a few sweatshirts and a pair of jeans along with your swimsuit. Also, we usually check about 2 days in advance for the weather on the weather channel website and pack accordingly. It has been pretty acurate for the past 5 years.

Thanks!
Of course, now our plans have changed again ... thanks to the winter Dream Maker package, we were able to get fantastic rates for November 16-22, so it looks like we're booked! Can't believe it!
Looking forward to great weather and some swimming!
