Weather in December?

I am planning my first ever winter trip. We will be in Disney 12/25 - 01/01. Could anyone give me an idea about what the weather will be like and how to pack? Shorts? T-shirts? long pants? long sleeves? jackets? Will swimming be an option? We are from New Jersey it is normally in the 20's or 30's here that time of year!

Since weather is always unpredictable, layers are best.
Last time I was there at Christmas, it was warm the first day (t-shirts and shorts) and the next morning, we had on jackets and long pants. The mornings seemed to be chilly and by afternoon, a t-shirt and jeans were fine. I saw many people scrambling to buy sweatshirts, and many people freezing in line early in the day. I also wound up wearing an ear band and stretchy gloves most mornings (I tend to get cold easily, even though being from Illinois, I should be used to cold weather!) So basically, go with the layers...be prepared for any kind of weather.
As for swimming...I wouldn't have except for the first day, but I saw people in the pool.

I believe the pools are all heated.

My DH and I just recently returned from a trip to WDW, and have already decided that we will return for Christmas through New Year's of 2007. Though it's a year and a half away, we've been wondering about what we will bring also, because we are also from NJ and we've always gone to WDW in the summer. We can't wait.

Being a native Floridian I can say with much experience - Be prepared for everything. Like a previous poster eluded to, you can be wearing shorts one day and 12 layers the next. The only thing predictable about Florida weather in the winter is that it is totally unpredictable. Definitely be prepared to layer.

As for the pools, they are all heated year-round. The water will probably feel okay - it is the air surrounding the water that will be the problem. If you jump out of the water and make it a straight shot to your towel, or better yet a fluffy robe, you should be fine.

We were there from the 19th to the 26th this last Christmas. When we arrived in Orlando it was sunny and *almost* hot, I would say 80ish. By about the 3rd night or so (don't really remember) we were FROZEN at Epcot. I kid you not, you could see your breath. I had on my heavy Columbia winter coat on and my mom was such a grouch during illuminations because she was so cold. When we took the tram back to the parking lot a CM even commented on how especially cold it was and how it was sort of unusual for central FL. Let me tell you, that open air parking lot tram gave us a BRISK ride back to our car. (I should add that I am from central Illinois and accustomed to the cold winters!) The mornings and evenings got a little chilly, but after that night, Christmas Eve and Christmas day were nice and toasty warm. My fondest memory was Epcot on Christmas eve, it was warm and the atmosphere was just enchanting. Christmas day started off rainy (but still warm) and cleared up later in the day. Bottom line is you just don't know what to expect. I would carry a winter coat with you as well as shorts and t-shirts. Hope this helps!

We were there 12/29/05-1/5/06 - the most we did was wear a sweatshirt early in the morning and late at night. There were 3 days that were close to or at 80 and we didn't even need the extra layer at night. A lot of it is relative, we are from a colder dry winter climate. The humidity bugged me more than anything! Where we were comfy in t-shirts my mother-in-law who lives in FL. had on a sweater.

The kids did swim every night, there were a couple of chilly trips back to the room, but they are kids, they would swim if there was ice floating on the surface.

We live in Florida so I can tell you there is no way to know
Sometimes it is in the high 70s and some times the low 30s.
Bring a coat and your shorts and your bathing suit hot tups and pools are always warm.
