I am planning our families first trip ever to Disney and can get a great price on hotel for 8/10-8/14 but would like information on how hot it is and if this is a really crowded time of year to go.
Any info would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

We visited in August last year for the first time in that month (we had been 4 times in May and once in October) and found neither the crowds or the weather to much in fact we arrived back in the UK on the Sunday and I phoned and booked the villa for August 2004 on the Monday. Yes it was hot at times but you pace yourselves, the best advice that I can give is arrive at the parks as early as you can in the morning, most days we were there at opening time or just after, you can get on most rides with no or minimal wait times and then when it gets to hot you can leave the parks and go to the pool or on the days we had storms we hit the malls and then something to eat and if we felt up to it back to the park in the evening, we were lucky in the respect that we had 3 weeks to spread everything out over. I have had worse crowds in May and at Halloween. You will have a great time.

Hard to predict for this summer. but we hope the crowds will come visit us.

The weather for August, on the other hand, is fairly easy to predict. Expect it to be very warm and humid. Still in the rainy season then so expect showers usually in the PM. One good thing: they don't last long!

Best wishes and have a wonderful time.

We were the same as snookhams. We visited in August for the first time last year. The best times (weather and crowds) were in the morning. It tended to rain, albeit briefly in the afternoon. But it doesn't stop everything - you even have an excuse to wear the bright yellow poncho !

One suggestion that was passed onto us was - put your swimming stuff in the boot of the car - for those very hot days, why not go TL or BB after lunch for a couple of hours, and go back to the park late afternoon / early evening.

Previoulsy we have been at Easter, and although it's cooler, we found it a lot busier. So much so, that we arranged to go in August again this year !
:D

(As you may have guessed - we're limited to the School hols)

We go every year in August. Its VERY hot and humid and it does usually rain. But we still go that time of year because the crowds are lower and it is less DVC points and we've learned a strategy that works for us.

We always get there for park opening, and in August I'm pretty much ready to leave by 11am. We then catch lunch somewhere and go back to the resort for a swim. (We love Disney pools as much as the parks so we really look forward to this part of the day). Mid-afternoon the rains hit, but we're already wet so how cares about some raindrops. So that's the time we just head back the parks. We're cooled down and the crowds always thin out once the rain hits despite the fact that very little closes. Works for us!
