We are booked on the August 20th repo back to Florida! So excited, but, I have never cruised in August. All I keep hearing is hurricanes!!! It couldn't possibly be horrible the whole 2 weeks, could it??? We are prepared for it, and are doing the whole expect the worst and hope for the best thing... but, I keep hearing it's going to be HOT, and possible bad weather?????? Anyone that has cruised in August in Mexico, or through Panama, I'd really appreciate hearing about your weather experience! TIA :flower:

We are also on the August repo and I expect it to be hot, hot, hot. We have sailed the Eastern and Western itineraries on DCL a few times in August and yes, the ports were hot and the ones we are going to will most likely be hot, especially Panama Canal crossing day....

We only had trouble with hurricanes once in September....anything can happen but I doubt we will have two weeks of bad weather....must think positively and you have a good attitude as far as "just roll with the punches"!! LOL!!

Oh, did she mention that it would be hot? That is the one thing I'm really not looking forward to. Also, hurricanes won't even be an issue until we cross the canal and leave Curacao. Curacao is not in the hurricane area and doesn't get hit

I had asked the same thing about the weather and a friend told me it will be like a blow torch on your back. That made me gigge

I had heard that the weather was going to be extremely hot, especially going through the canal. When the new passporter came over the weekend it had average temperatures listed for the various areas and it was hotter in Cabo than Panama. I'm sure it's going to be very humid.

I expect hot, humid, and downright miserable. But the ship has a/c so I'll be fine. :)

As for hurricanes, Farmer's Almanac predicts one hitting Florida between 9/1 and 9/7. I don't fly home until 9/5.

Yes -- but remember they do have a hurricane issue in the Pacific Ocean too! :rotfl:

bring em on...Pacific....Atlantic...who cares....maybe we could have the first 15 or 16 day DCL cruise if weather creates a problem back in FL and we can't get back!!! LOL :rotfl2:

Any idea what temperatures and how much humidity? Not that I can do anything about it but as a fair skinned Brit used to colder weather, I'd like to be prepared.

Well....on any given August day in New York the temps can be at 97 or so with very high humidty so I would much rather be experiencing those temps on a cruise ship in Panama, than back home in my backyard!!!

I was on the first "Hurricane Cruise" last August. Had to change itineraries because of the weather, but had a great time anyway. As for the heat - traveling 20 knots creates a beautiful breeze that keeps temps perfect - sure its warm, but isn't that the idea? As for days on shore - again - hot, but perfect for swimming. Just be careful of sunburn. Aside from the hurricanes, August is perfect - just be prepared to change itineraries if necesssary.

You all keep talking about "hot" like its a bad thing... I just see it as more of an excuse to hit Scoops! :goodvibes

I like the scoops reminder....!!!! I was also thinking that the breeze while out at sea would offset some of the "HOT"ness... :sunny: :cool1:

I feel much better now after all the posts! Thank you all for your input!

:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: We have been in Orlando in August and the air is "THICK"... We were on the Yucatan penninsula in March and it was already in the 90's. At sea, you shouldn't be too bad due to the "seabreezes", but on land, make sure you wear sunscreen and a hat, drink LOTS of water and limit the alcohol consumption (at least until you are back on board!! :p ) But the most important thing to remember is to Have Fun!

Yes, it will be hot, especially in Mexico. This is the reason the Mexican Riviera cruises stop in May and go to Alaska. The Panama Canal will be hot and humid. HTH

They'll have to bring the machine out from behind the counter and just "dispense" the frozen yogurt on my forehead to help keep me "cool". Sticky, but cool.

I'm expecting Hot and Humid for this trip. It'll make WDW at the end of the cruise seem nice and cool (yeah Right - and I'll sell you the Brookline Bridge too).

In Acapulco it will be in the 90's with high humidity
