Weather Comparison--May versus September

May is great I'd recommend it.

But just for the record there was a tropical strom in April last year (Arlene) so anything is possible in Florida.

It all depends on your definition of good weatherand your tolerance level. The average high in Orlando in May is 88. It is usually at least a little humid; as the month goes on, it feels more and more humid, the average high creeps up, and the average low creeps up. There can be nice days in May in the lower 80’s with little perceptible humidity, more so at the beginning. What’s most likely is high 80’s with moderate humidity, especially at the end of May. Some people aren’t bothered by it, or feel because it’s not as bad as high summer, it’s ok. Personally, I try to stay indoors as much as possible from late May- mid September while the sun is up.

Thank you for your insight! You are so right, everyone's tolerance is different. I've even contemplated late April hoping Spring Breakers would be gone by then, but oh, my, decisions....decisions.... Without experiencing it myself, it really is difficult to know. Hopefully, with everyone's information I can get an idea of what we'd be looking at weather wise and make as best an informed decision as possible.

We always go early May. We've had great luck with the weather (rain wise), except that one reallllyy bad thunderstorm in early May 2015. We were in DHS and a palm tree near the park entrance was struck by lightning. It was the most awful sound I've ever heard and everyone started panicking and running into the stores. We've usually only had one rainy day at the most.

I find end of October - end of May to be the most enjoyable in Florida. I avoid the summer months at all cost because I don't think suffering through the heat is worth it if you can go any other time of the year. It gets hot and humid enough here in SC over the summer I can't imagine going on vacation and suffering more :rotfl:
We were there that night too! THat was one crazy storm!

Yes it was! That was literally the only time I've ever been genuinely scared at Disney. That Florida lightning is no joke! I think we were supposed to do the Star Wars DP that night (back when it was outside) and we were running all over trying to figure out if it got moved inside. Luckily guest services switched us to another night but we were drenched from head to toe

Having grown up in South Florida, I recommend only visiting between November and April. However I would always choose May over September. Sept is humid, stormy, buggy and always hot. May is hot and humid but the summer weather just hasn’t quite settled in yet so you may get a cool breeze every day or so.

We went in early May and late September last year. We experienced almost identical weather. Both hot, an occasional thunderstorms, and moderate humidity. Can't complain about either!

We were at WDW for Hurricane Matthew in 2016, and Irma came right before our trip in 2017.

I’m hoping for better weather this May, but if there are any storms, y’all will know whose luck to blame.

Well, I know a couple of weeks isn't going to be extremely different weather wise, but with the reports of the heat and humidity even in early May, I'm now wondering about possibly late April....I wonder when the mass of spring breakers ends. I want to be able to enjoy the F&GF without the massive crowds.

We've been twice in early/mid May. The weather was hot but not too humid. I went once at the end of Sept/Beginning of Oct it was so hot & crazy humid.

If you're talking about next 2019, keep in mind that Easter is late next year (4/21) so that will have a big impact on end of April crowd levels.

Eeek! Thanks for the heads up! :flower1: I hadn't even considered Easter being that late. Yes, that will have a huge impact on crowds. Will definitely have to work around that as well.
