Weather comparison: Early May vs. Late August

We only went in August/ early Sept for years. Then we took a trip in May. I can't tell you how many times I said on the video, weather is gorgeous when we went in May. Still hot, but air was much drier, even crisper in the morning!! So much less rain too! We did three trips in May and then the last two trips in November. Now, we are headed back in August this year for the first time in years and I'm not excited for this weather!

Sounds like the OP has made her decision, but I want to interject that I would choose August for the lighter crowds and lesser number of hours of daylight.

In May, the sun can still be broiling hot at 7:00 pm. By August, it's getting dark by then.

I have been in late May/early June and early July. I thought that it was much more humid in July.

May is hot, but it wasn't humid. I would just pour water on myself and it dried very quickly. I got a lot of cups of ice and also used that to cool down.

I've been in late May and mid-August. As others have said, the humidity makes a tremendous difference in how the temperature "feels." I was pregnant the time I went in May and had an easier time in the parks than the time I went in August - 5 years younger and not pregnant!

I've been both times. Early may was hot; late August was intolerable because of the humidity. We are from WI and do not handle the humidity well at all. I refuse to visit Disney from late May thru mid October.

May, week before Memorial Day Weekend was BEAUTIFUL this year!:thumbsup2 Was hot, but very little humidity. Headed back in May of '17 again...loved it! For many years, when our sons had sport commitments only went mid August because that was our only option after camps were done. GLAD our August trips are done :scared1:and would recommend May to anyone.:cheer2: Most schools are not yet out!:goodvibes

Labor day weekend here. Here's to not having a heat stroke! I've never been outside of the oct-april window (except as a kid), so this should be interesting...

Me too. My family really wanted to go in August last year so I sent them and I stayed home in the air conditioning.

I have to say that I went last Aug 20th 25th. I was so prepared for the heat. I had the cooling towels, cooling hats, bought a mister fan and was so ready. Our first day was in Epcot, we did Spaceship Earth, got off and loaded up with my cooling apparel. By the time we got to Ellens, it was starting to rain. After that ride, it was cool, and stayed cool the entire trip for me. I actually had to buy a hoodie jacket. I wore it almost all the time. Could not believe how cool it was during our trip. There were a couple of hot times, but I think we were at the water parks then. Going again in 8 days. I so hope it will be nice again, but not counting on it. Cooling apparel is being packed.

I also live in Virginia. 100 degrees today and feels like about 110. Early May or late August should not be that bad. I have been at both times and would also vote for early May. Always a tradeoff between weather and crowds. Neither of those times are terrible crowd-wise. :smooth:
