Weather at the world next week?

Living in the south, the worst thing about our cold weather isn't the temperature but the wind and moisture.

If it's 30, okay, be 30 and I can dress for 30. But, when it's 45, but windy and damp at times it can feel like 30 and at times it can feel like 60 so it's hard to dress and pack.

BUT, I would prefer the winter temps to the summer temps on any visit. I can always hit the hot tub and usually hit the pool on the winter trips...in the summer, you're sweating and fatigued no matter what.

Just a suggestion, but starting a thread that can usually be answered by a very quick and easy google search isn't the best idea. I think the advice the PP was tryign to give was that if you would like to discuss the topic that you're inquiring about, it is best to maybe steer the conversation in the manner that you want it to go.

So, for example....rather than me starting a thread asking what time Animal Kingdom closes today (if I want to discuss it). I could say, "Animal Kingdom closing at 7pm". Then I would proceed to discuss that I've never been in AK after dark and maybe ask if it is worth braving the chilly November temps if you can't really see many animals in action.

The board has a search function (below) and google/bing are great search engines for quick answers to questions. Once you find an answer, The Dis is a great place to come to discuss that answer, check accuracy, find alternatives, etc.

I've always wondered this too. google is the quickest way to get answers to all sorts of questions rather than posting here and waiting for one.

This time of year, no matter what the forecast says a week out, you have to be prepared for anything. Pack layers and include rain gear.

I WAS all packed for my trip next week, but when I checked the current forecast (some 60's) I took out all shorts, left in some capris and added a few long pants and an extra sweatshirt. Also went to Target for a cheap hat & glove set (low PM 40's). Since I am in the parks on some days from opening to closing I may end up renting a locker to put in and take out those extra layers.

Don't think that it's just FL weather that is so unpredictable. The weather 'anywhere' (especially in the south) is 'up' and 'down' during each day and definitely during a week. It's been that way wherever we've lived. The weather forecasters can 'see' just so much - don't care how great their instruments are.

We had 24" snow Jan. 2000 in Raleigh, NC and the prediction started out as 4".
Just have to expect most any kind of weather/temps when traveling anywhere in the south during Oct - April.

Proceed with caution. Yes, you will have some 60s, but you've also got some 80s and upper 60s in the sun can feel more like 80. I wouldn't unpack all of those shorts.

Wow! I can't believe some of the responses to this thread. I think some people are being just plain rude to the op! Manners people:)

Couldn't agree more! Why on earth would you click on a post just to chide the OP for asking. And yes by posting this i am chiding the chiders! :-)

Ahhh, that said - never ever look at weather down there more than a couple of days before your trip. It will make you miserable, guaranteed. We will be down there in about a week and I plan on packing shorts, swimsuits, long pants, sandals, tennis shoes, short sleeved shirts, long sleeved shirts, sweaters and a light coat. Hehe - I think I have my bases covered. Oh, and sunscreen.

I'm a horrible overpacker as it is (and DVCer who does laundry!) where is the appropriate board/wording for that thread? Good advice tho

We are leaving Sunday :cool1:, the cold front that just hit the north is supposed to be moving down, so it is going to be colder than usual. What you pack it depends were you live, if you are coming from CO were it was -6 yesterday, 60 it's going to be shorts weather. If you are coming from the south you need to bundle up. Also make sure you are looking at "it feels like" temperature, because just because it is 60 doesn't mean it will feel like 60. Our last trip in feb it was 63 outside but it felt like 53 it was cold. I am packing lots of layers, rain boots and no shorts.

I agree, today was supposed to be high 70's, never happened, it was this misty rain and breezy low 60's most of the day...had to go to target to buy sweatshirts:) so far it says 30's Monday and Tuesday nights...brrrrr!

We will be there the end of next week, and I'm actually hoping for a cold snap! I LOVE touring the World when there's a bit of a chill in the air.

I too look at accuweather WAY too early. I *know* to take it with a grain of salt, but I can't help looking anyway!
