I'm starting to get packed for our July 17-24 trip. I was just looking at the extended forecast for Anaheim and it only says highs in the upper 70s...is that right??? I thought July was suppose to be so hot in California. Now wondering if I need to pack jackets/pants. Seems wrong to do in the middle of July...any advice.

We are here right now and the weather has been so weird for July. It has been cloudy and almost cold most of the mornings. The sun comes out only in the afternoon for a short while and then it turns cool and chili in the evening. I would say bring a pair of pants and a sweater just in case. You will need them for the nights anyway.

I've always found that it's a bit hotter in the parks than the forecast states. I think if you bring a sweatshirt for the evenings, just in case, you'll be fine otherwise. I'm sure it will still be warm during the day.

Average high temps for July are 85F - see "Detailed Weather Data for DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=23004158 - so high 70's is a little cool but not too far off the norm. Most of our summer trips have had high temps in the low to mid-80's - consistent with the data in the link above. In all of our trips from May to August we wear shorts and tees morning to midnight. Never needed anything else. Sounds like it might be a little cooler than usual next week. We are coming in on July 26 and here is hoping for it to warm up! Who would have thought! :goodvibes

It has been cooler than normal. Last month when we were at DLR was much cooler than the same dates the year before, plus it was breezy. I actually wore a sweatshirt in the evenings before it got dark, and I don't often experience that need during the summer at Disneyland. We're experiencing it here in northern California as well, and I have no complaints. I agree with Hydroguy about low to mid-80's being about right for that time of year for Anaheim. I've been keeping an eye on the weather too since we'll go again soonish and have seen predictions ranging from mid-70s to mid-80s for Anaheim for your dates. Maybe as you get closer to your dates, the predictions will get more consistent and reliable.

The difference between the current/recent temperatures and what it usually is like in July feels quite different, even if the actual thermostat numbers only vary minimally. It's because of the cloud cover. It makes the air chillier, so a 77-degree day with a cloud cover is going to feel much cooler than a 77-degree day with sunshine.

We've been below average the last couple of weeks (I'm in the L.A. basin, which is always lumped in with Inland Orange County in the local weather forecasts, and Inland O.C. includes Anaheim) - which is absolutely delightful for me, as I hate the searing, oppressive heat of summer. I couldn't be happier. I only wish it would stay this way through the rest of the month and into August! I have a feeling I won't be so lucky, though!

It's been gloomy in the morning. When the cloud cover burns off, the sun comes out and it feels warm - it will feel even warmer inside DL, however. (That's the "Real Feel" temperature that some weather sites are showing now.) The numbers are suppose to climb next week, and get closer to what it normally would be for July.

Can you wish for the "cooler" temps to stick around through September too? :thumbsup2

I'm right there with you! Sometimes September can be even hotter than August and seem more summer-like. Other times it's pouring rain! If I were creating the weather, it would be nice and cool and comfortable all through Fall and Winter!! None of this 80-90-100 degree business that seems to hit us in SoCal!:rotfl2:

To add, cloud cover in the day will of course block sunshine and make it feel cooler. Cloud cover in the evening will keep heat near the ground and make it feel warmer.

77 degree highs at DLR sounds great to me too! I just hope the early mornIng and late evening lows don't get too cool. From my earlier link it looks like average lows for July are 65F which for me is just right and does not necessitate an extra layer. :)

Yes - exactly (about the cloud cover). For example, right now the supposed temperature here is 63 (it's supposed to get to 74 or 75 by mid-afternoon and then climb into the 80's tomorrow and into next week). I would bet that some folks will go outside and think it feels colder than that right now. If you were on a boat in the middle of the ocean right now, it would be freezing. If not for this cloud cover/marine layer, 63 degrees as a general number would feel warmer in the bright sunshine (sometimes in November or December, we might have bright and sunny 63-degree days that don't feel cold), and, of course, without the marine layer, it would likely be much warmer than 63 degrees in July!

I think a 65-degree evening would be lovely, and you're right - probably no extra layering would be necessary for that temp in summer. It should be downright comfortable in DLR if it's a nice 65-degree evening.

It's interesting how a 65-degree day with sun in the middle of winter can feel different than a 65-degree day with a marine layer in the middle of summer, or even a 65-degree night.

It has been a VERY strange July.

If it tells you anything, many of my friends who live within 1 hour drive of DL have had statements like, "What happened to the weather?" "Checks calendar - where's the sun?" and my favorite, "Okay, who stole summer?!" as their status messages on FB in the last week.

It has not been at all what is normal. We had RAIN the other day. Many of you may laugh at that, but rain in uly in So. Cal is akin to announcing that the sky is indeed falling.

While HydroGuy's information is correct for "usual" July weather, there has been NOTHING usual about the weather this summer.

Upper 70s is correct and as SherryE said, it's supposed to climb into the low 80s next week. (Cool for mid-July.)

I usually wear capri's with tank tops and an over-shirt in July. Yesterday I wore jeans, with a t-shirt style top, and wore a sweater at dinner.

I'm OK with "cool for mid-July." Our LOW here is 84 right now in Phoenix. That means it's already warmer outside than inside when you pick up the morning paper, and often still 100 degrees during the 10 p.m. evening news.

I guess I'd better pack the sweatshirts when we come later this month, just in case. We stay near the beach, and my kids will think it's positively Arctic if it's in the 60s in the evening!

I think whatever the listed temp is, it's going to feel hotter in DLR because of all the pavement and spending more time outdoors than most of us do in the average working day.

It's been pretty weird here in SD this week. Tues-Thurs were gloomy and in the high 60s, with sprinkles!!! Today at my house inland, it was finally sunny and low 70s, but I went shopping in Carlsbad and it was gloomy and 60s! The marine layer came really far inland, too.

The weather forecast was WAY wrong for this week. It's anyone's guess what next week will be like.

We get there the 20th and have been watching the weather daily. The 10 day forecast right now is saying highs of low 80's and upper 70's and then in the night it calls for upper 60's.

If it is like that when we get there, a number of people in my family will be very disappointed. We like the 90's and above. When we hit Redding after the first days drive we like to see the 100+ sign as we pull into town. Lower temps when we are used to heat at home makes the DGF and kids feel tired. WEIRD.

I as wondering the same thing. I think I will bring a zip up hoody just in case.

We were at DLR last week (7/7-7/9) and it was cold in the mornings and evenings. We hadn't brought jeans but wished we had. I had only brought one sweatshirt each and we needed them every day. The sun came out for maybe three hours each day. We sat down for dinner outside at WCT at 5:50pm and were in the sun and were quite warm. By the time dinner ended at 7:00pm they had the heaters on!

We were in San Diego for a few days before DLR and it was even colder. We went to the beach one day and it was probably mid-60's and cloudy. The kids were happy playing in the sand as I sat and drank my coffee to stay warm. We didn't think mid-60's sounded cold, but it is when it is cloudy! We saw the sun maybe 5 hours total the 3 days we were in San Diego. Everyone there commented on the strange weather.

Moral of my story- bring jeans/pants and multiple sweatshirts just in case!

Just thought I would share: On the ticker on Headline News (maybe CNN?) a few minutes ago it said that on Friday, it was 67 degrees F in LA "breaking a long standing record" for the coolest July 9th in LA since 1926.

We are arriving 7/18. The temps in Northern NJ have been upper 90's to 100. I think I'm going to freeze when we get there. I plan on wearing a sweatshirt and jeans in the morning and bring shorts. I'll get a locker and when it gets warm (hopefully) I'll change and then when it gets cool again in the evening I can change back.

I looked at the up to the minute temperature yesterday (Sunday, 7/11) at around 3 p.m. or 4p.m. and it said 74 degrees. But it actually felt warmer than that. The cloud cover took a while to burn off, but there has sort of been high humidity out here in L.A. for a couple fo weeks. When I say high humidity, I don't mean like the humidity you get in the South. But humidity at a '72' for a 74-degree day is kind of high. That ratio is kind of high, and so that 74 temp will feel warmer.

The weather predictions for L.A. and Inland OC have been pretty accurate the last couple of weeks. They give a 'high' number for the day and a 'low' number for the day in the forecast. Even though it has been gloomy for a longer period of time in the morning and early afternoon, it is below average for this time of year and it takes longer to hit the high number, the predicted 'highs' have been pretty much on point.

But, I just heard a local news weather forecast, and by the end of this week (meaning by 7/17) it is supposed to be in the UPPER 80's - like close to 90 degrees!:scared1: That is much more of what I would expect for summer in L.A./Inland Orange County. Anyway, that 88 degrees that is predicted by the end of the week will feel even warmer in the middle of DL.
