Weather around Thanksgiving?

We are thinking of going to WDW the week of Thanksgiving, for a couple of reasons. We're planning on staying at either Pop or at AS Movies again if Pop is not available for our dates. The weather is cooler and my daughter is out of school that week, so no school worries. Those of you who have gone that week, what is the weather like generally? Average temps? I know from being in the south, it can be freezing butt cold one year and warm the next. Just curious what y'all thought about Thanksgiving week? What are the crowds like also?

We will be there Thanksgiving too and I´ve been asking a lot of the same questions. Seems like the weather is totally unpredictable this time of year. From being "shorts and t-shirts" warm to beeing "fleece´s and hats" cold.
Crowds seem to be pretty bad and many say that MK often reaches max.capacity on Thanksgiving day. The days leading up to Thanksgiving day seem to be a lot better than the 2 days after.
Hope this helps a bit.

The weather can be a bit unpredicable at that time, but not as bad as in January. Predicting that weather is a toss of a coin.

We were there this past Thanksgiving - actually the week after. We flew in on the Sunday after. The week we were there, Florida was having a bit of a warm spell. It was in the 80's all week and still warm at night. We brought sweatshirts but never used them. I don't think it got below 60 the whole time we were there.

BUT, keep in mind that I'm from the Northeast, where it gets cold. The day we flew home, it snowed. So 60 in Florida to me is beautiful, while to people in the south, that's chilly.

We were there Thanksgiving week last year and found the weather to be pretty warm during the day. We wore shorts and short sleeves every day and on 1 or 2 nights wore jeans. Our last night there (the Friday night after Thanksgiving) it was REALLY cold!!!!! We had one long pants, long sleeves, AND sweatshirts and were still cold. But, that was the only encounter. It's a good thing we drove b/c we needed the extra room for clothing - had to pack everything from bathing suits to warm-ups. :rotfl:

We were there Thanksgiving week 2006 and we had some beautiful days in the 80s and the boys could swim. We had other days we were thankful we had our lightweight winter jackets with us. I had to buy a couple pairs of gloves because it was so cold. The day we left was super hot. You just never know.

i have gone 3 times the past 4 years at Thanksgiving, and only once did I have to actually wear both pants and a sweatshirt because of the cold. That being said like others, I am from New York so my tolerence to cooler weather is better than others.

Oh average, days are in the 70's and nights drop into 50's....

Glad to hear the weather should be fairly decent - being from Michigan even 60 will be beach weather for us. Only 88 days to go!

IMO, the problem with averages is it can be a lot warmer or cooler, I lived in Central Florida for 23 years, and the weather is so unpredictable. If you are sensitive to either cool or warm (like me), pack everything but the kitchen sink. That time of year, it can rain for longer periods of times (think full day or even days) as fronts come closer and rain comes, but it is light and although can be miserable, not usually the drenching downpours of summer. That said, more of our Thanksgivings were sunny and clear, but that is something to consider. Pay close to attention to the weather the week before you go to get a better idea what to pack. Have fun.

As stated above, the weather can vary quite a bit. It can be gray and overcast and in the 50's, or blue skies and sunny and in the 80's.

The good news neither extreme is a big deal. Not too hot, not too cold.

The bad news will most likely be the crowds. Thanksgiving weekend, starting that Wed. and continuing through that Sunday can be insanely crowded. That following Monday, I've seen the crowds drop by at least 50 percent, so factor that in to your planning.

More good news: The parks are all decked out for the holidays, and that alone makes the trip worth while. :thumbsup2

It's a coin toss.
Last year was very warm. The year before we watched little snow flurries from our balcony and had to buy warmer clothes from the gift shops.
I suggest checking in with both weather.com for a 10 day forecast or accuweather.com for a 15 day forecast.
It's a great time to be at WDW. The crowd levels are pretty low until the day before Thanksgiving. Then it gets a little crazy.

And, if you need to buy warmer clothes from the gift shops be prepared to pay. I paid $8 for a pair of cheap, knit gloves that would have been $1 at Walmart. But, when you're cold, you're cold. And, we're from Maryland and are used to it. We heard about the snow flurries after our return home.

Me too (pd $6)! Ahh, but the gloves did have Mickey on them (still in mint condition for next off season visit)!!

Our last trip to Disney was week after Tgiving 2007. Probalby our best trip ever due to perfect weather and low crowds.

Can't wait to do it again in 2009.

Never got below 60's at night.

herc.

One thing I always too (someone mentioned gloves) is to throw a pair of those little stretch gloves in my carry-on bag. They take up almost no room and don't weigh anything, so they're perfect "just in case". (And because you just never know how cold it might when you step off the plane back in New England.)

We went Thanksgiving week last year and the weather was incredible. Day temps were in the low 80's with no humidity, and nights went down to may 59(being from Boston, that was was more than warm enough for shorts!!!!).

The crowds were busy, but not unbearable until the Friday after Thanksgiving. By that night you could not move in the Magic Kingdom. I would absolutely go at that time of year again though:cool1: :cool1: :thumbsup2

We were there in 2006 for Thanksgiving. It was so cold. We have pics of our kids in thick jackets. The last day we were there was the only day we wore short sleeves, still with long pants. We are from the south, though. Plus I don't really care for cold. I heard last year was nice. We'll be back this Thanksgiving. I'm hoping it's not as cold.
