We will be leaving tomorrow (Saturday) for our trip to Paris. Can anyone give us an accurate weather forcast for the next several days. On accuweather.com it changes all the time, same with the weather channel. Just thought I would ask someone who lives in Paris and are more reliable!!!

Does anyone also have an update on the Metro/RER strike today? We are hoping they will be back to normal by Sunday!!!

Thanks for your help!

For the latest on the metro strike ie current conditions on each line

http://ratp.fr/

According to the press conference on sncf.fr the regional trains will continue to see disturbances to the schedule over the weekend. The good news is that fewer workers chose to strike on the 2nd and 3rd day. Tensions are cooling somewhat, as I mentioned yesterday

I found an English language report in case you don't read/understand French

The weather this weekend will go down to about/just below freezing and highs around 7-8 degrees, with next week expected to warm back up to 11 degrees or so. The snow that others were fearing is as I suspected not in the forecast

How much of a warm up is 11 degrees? Will we still need to wear winter coats, hats, scarves gloves etc.. The weather reports we checked here shows rain all the way up until Thursday. Just a little concerned with that!

If for some reason the Metro/RER is not running by Tuesday when we are to leave our hotel in Paris to go to Disneyland, is our only option of getting there a taxi, and what time do you suggest we leave in the morning?

Thanks again for all your help!

11 is apparently 52 degrees in Fahrenheit.

But remember, that is 11 degrees with no AC inside. In that weather, I wear a polo shirt and a wool jacket and am usually roasting indoors. (or just a wool sweater and pashmina and no jacket) I also sleep with the window open.

I do of course always wear a scarf in Paris (summer and winter one does, you will see that there ;) ) But hat? gloves? not unless it goes below freezing for me.

To each their own, but if you are used to American air conditioning I still caution you that you may have a surprise anytime you venture indoors.

rain is usually light rain on and off - bring an umbrella!

you may want to prebook a shuttle service and check their cancellation policy. Nobody can predict the strike but it certainly sounds more promising for next week.

In order to get to DLRP by about 9am, I usually leave for the metro around 8am and take the M6 to the RER A line. If I recall you are further towards Etoile; so assume 1hr 20minutes if the metro/RER is fully functional.

Also line 1 and line 14 of the metro run normally, so you may want to use them as you can. Or use the hop on/hop off bus service.

For instance, your Sunday may be something like - take a taxi to Etoile (Arc de Triomphe/Champs Elysees) Walk to Trocadero, walk to Eiffel Tower. Take hop on/hop off bus main route to Notre Dame, Louvre, etc and walk in those areas. Or do that part by foot supplemented by the line 1 metro. A one day bus ticket is 26 Euros, two day 29 Euros.

If the metro is still not running when you go to DLRP, take a taxi to one of the RER A stations - perhaps Gare de Lyon as that bypasses the busy 'downtown' stations. Currently 1 in 5 trains is running on that line. If you take a taxi to Etoile, you can catch the RER A, but it will go through the busiest stations and will be very very crowded.

Thanks bavaria!!! :thumbsup2 That was just what I was going to say......! :rolleyes1 ;)

But I do think that you must feel the cold a little less than some of us!! ;) I'm not sure what the temperature was this last Monday, but I definitely needed a couple of layers and a good coat. Though I was then a little too warm on some of the indoor rides, when I couldn't be bothered to take off my coat - so I do understand your point :) Just pack lots of layers long4disney, then you can always remove as necessary.

Bexx, I thought of you as I was dripping in my polo, pashmina, wool peacoat, jeans, socks and shoes last Monday.

I DID wear a sweater and jacket to Bonfire Night, but had on bare feet in my Geox slides.... :rotfl:

oh, and I am referring to the American version of 'polo' here as in open necked short sleeved shirt, not the British version of 'polo' which is a 'turtleneck' in America! :rotfl2:

:teeth:

Sorry to Elaine and Reid, and particularly to you long4disney, for going so off topic :flower3:

I have a big wintercoat packed for DLP... I'm leaving for Europe on Monday, but won't be at DLP until Dec 3rd.... I hope I'm not packing this big thing for no reason!

Again, to each their own, and weather does change and can occassionally get cold in France, but to those of you coming from Toronto and Chicago you know cold. I've been colder in those cities and other places such as Denver than I have ever been in Germany or France....

But then again, if you don't bring that big coat, you will most likely blame me for being cold, so do what you wish! :rotfl:

The best advice is still layers, and consider the climate vs what you know at home. I am someone who walks outside every day sometimes for hours, and I walk at a very fast pace. I don't thus feel the cold as much as someone who isn't used to being outside in all weather, and isn't walking at an energetic pace.

Everyone is different - you know yourself best.

BUT I really regretted wearing the coat I did the last two weeks, and it is going to the cleaners tomorrow as it really took a beating as I was far too hot. :rolleyes1
