I can't believe I don't know this but if a ride is closed due to weather during your fastpass return time, what happens? Can you come back later? How would thet know you had fastpass for it earlier? We leave in 8 days and seeing the weather forecast has me concerned. Also if storming and boats can't operate, do they automatically add bus service?

You will get a notice in MDE & an email telling you that the ride was closed and will give you a list of attractions that you can use your FP+ at (including the one that is down). You can use this FP+ any time later in the day.

What do you mean how do they know? They look at the time on your fastpass if you have any fastpasses at all that day they pop up on a screen the CMs can see.

Even after a FP is expired for the day the CM can still see it. They have a list of times when the attraction was not operational and if your return time overlaps with a non-operational the you can use it at any time the rest of the day.

Depends on how long the boats are forced to dock. Short down pours, which Florida is know for no they don't do anything. For longer ones they will.
