Hello there.....I'm wondering if anyone knows what the weather and crowds are like in Feb. around Valentine's day? We had originally planned to go during Thanksgiving, but a family emergency is pushing our vacation out later. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has travelled around this time frame in the past. Thanks!

Haven't been around that time, but looking at our school district calender, kids have off Feb 20-24 for winter break. Just bring it up in case other schools have winter break a little earlier than us

We were at WDW from 2/1-2/8 this year. I did not think the crowds were bad, except for the Monday after the SuperBowl. The MK was very crowded that day. The weather was mid 60's and 70's, not really great for swimming, but fine for the parks, IMHO.

As Jovidan said, if you avoid President's Day week (especially the holiday weekend) crowds will be light.

Weather is unpredictable, days in the 80s are possible, but so are mornings in the 30s. You'll have to check the Orlando forecast just before you leave, and pack for both possibilities anyway!

We were there this past February too. Just be prepared for all types of weather. One day you could wear shorts and the next you need a sweater. I got very sick on my trip and I think it was because of the change in weather from IL to FL and the whole wearing shorts when it was upper 70s out. Just make sure you take extra long sleeves.

The crowds weren't too bad. The day after the SuperBowl (8th) was insane at the Magic Kingdom like the other poster said. But as the week went on the crowds thinned out. By the 13th we didn't really have much wait in lines. Just beware of the many tour groups. My DH and I were on our honeymoon and one of these groups got in line with us for Stitch's escape and would not stop chanting some kind of cheer the whole time we were in the line. The CM asked them to be quiet, but we don't think they understood English. Because they never stopped. Just a warning.

Have fun on your trip.

We were in WDW this year, February 11-20 and had a wonderful time!

Crowds were very manageable and the EMH in morning and evening were such a treat! The first couple days of our trip, you needed a light jack in morning and pants at night, but towards the end of the week, the weather was perfect, high 70's/low 80's, no rain and shorts/skirts at night were fine--
We have been to WDW several other times in mid-February- usually for Valentines Day. .. and have always loved this time to travel!

ENJOY YOUR TRIP!! :flower3:

We always go at the end of Jan. first part of Feb. We were there this past Feb. and had a wonderful time. The crowds were light, the weather was great the week we were there, it was in the 80's, DH and DS went in the CBR pool every night!!!! However, our last day, it was prob. in the low 70's, so we had light jackets on in the morning. I prefer to go when it's cool......... I can't handle the heat all day long. You will love it at this time of the year!!! We have already booked our next trip in Jan. Feb. 06............

Have Fun!!!!

We were there Feb. 6 - 12 this year. Like a previous post stated, be prepared for temperature changes. One day we had to wear pants and sweaters and another day it was in the 80's. There was really only the one really cold day. The only time we had unbearable crowds was during EMH night at MK - will never do it again! I found the parks much more crowded then when I was there previously in October and November.

Crowd related things to watch for in Feb. are:

Cheerleaders
Speed Week (Daytona 500)
Pres. Week
Mardi-Gras

Try looking at this website for a predictor of crowds on specific dates:

I hope it is ok to post that link, if not, sorry mods feel free to take out. :confused3

February is a great time to go. It may be too cold to swim, but the crowds at the parks are lighter than usual. I would be aware of conventions.

Also be aware that Mardi Gras week is when lots of people from New Orleans and the surrounding areas converge on WDW. You will see more than your share of LSU hats and T-shirts. Nice folks though. Much nicer than USC fans :teeth:

~~~ GEAUX TIGERS ~~~ We originally planned for Mardi Gras week, as the kids are out of school....... but opted to go a little earlier due to DH's work schedule. A lot of our friends are going over Mardi Gras though.
"LAISSEZ LE BON TEMPS ROULEZ !" :drinking1
We were there on Valentine's Day this year. We did the Segway Tour at EPCOT. It was a beautiful day - sunny and warmed up nicely. We had great weather all five days we were in Orlando. Crowds were very manageable. MK gets busy in the afternoon. Presidents' Week can get pretty busy, but the week before was just fine.
OK I know when Pres. Week is but when are these other events and when is the Super Bowl? I am not a sports fan (just a commercial fan ;) ) but I am going to assume that the SB is played somewhere in Florida for it to have an affect on WDW.
Feb 5 2006 is Super Bowl Sunday.
It will not be played in Florida but there will be a large crowd at the ESPN club. Last year's game was in Jacksonville which may have had some bearing on crowds around the game.
I was looking at my daughter's school calander and she is going to be out the last few days of the week BEFORE Pres. Day. Are we going to be part of major crowds?
DH and I were there for Valentine's in 2000 and it was unusually warm (upper 80's) but once the sun went down, boy did it get cold!! I had on a coat every night. If memory serves, I don't think the water parks were open at that time of year...
Also, we got stuck there for 2 extra days because of a snow storm at home- what a horrible thing to have to extend your trip at Disney :)
We'll be there. Is the MK crowded because players are actually at the park in a parade or some other appearance? You know, the whole "You just won the Super Bowl. What are you going to do now?" "I'm going to Disney!" :cheer2:
Do they literally go right to Disney????
THanks!!
I haven't decided which week yet 3-12 or 10-19th. It sounds as though the first week would be better. As far as a possibility of 70 degree days.....that would be a blessing coming from Ohio :) We'll already have our winter coats with us if we need them :rotfl2: I just may have to extend our vacation as well since there are always those winter storms that could pop up.
