Hi

We arrive on Friday and the 10 day forcast has thundershowers listed every day for the next 10 days. The temp is still high 80's and low 90's with probability of rain in the 30%.

So experts what does this mean, does it mean we may experience a slight rain for a brief time or are we under constant cloud / rain threats for all day. Not sure what this means and I am trying to pack.

We only have 2 kinds of weather up hear in Canada HOT and SNOWING !!!

:rotfl2: I'm in Chicago area, we say "if you dont like the weather, stick around it will change - sometimes 3 or 4 changes a DAY!! :rotfl: (This am fog and COLD, now sunny and hot!!)

Just heard our weatherman say the tropics were looking good, at least no tropic depressions for a week or more!! (nothing specific brewing today!!)

I understand Florida is a tropical climate, and you get rain - heavy downpours at times, but it clears, you move on!!! (sometimes that rain 'cools' things down too!!)

Most days in Florida list a 20-30% chance of showers - if it does rain, it's usually a passing afternoon shower - not all day and the sun is usually out. Oct is a beautiful time of year to be at WDW - don't worry and have a great trip!!

Just got back and it was 30-50% chance of showers/thunderstorms all week. Only got one torrential downpour (1 hr) all week. Sprinkled quite a bit, though, and once or twice there had obviously been a shower overnight.

Overcast skys actually are preferable to that hot sun, at least for some of us!

It definitely threatened all week, but we shouldn't have been as worried as we were, because very little came of it in the end!

No need to fear 30%, I think that is pretty much a given every day. We have gone in October before (heading down in one week) and found the weather warm, even in the evening. We were actually a little disappointed that it didn't cool off much in the evening for MNSSHP. It's perfect for the kids, they can swim without being too cold when they get out. If you have a Dollar Tree in your area they sell ponchos for $1 for a pack of two. They aren't too thick, you can easily pack them, use them and then throw them away. The ones in the park are a lot nicer but run ~ $5, too nice to pitch.

My parents just got back from WDW on Saturday after staying for the week. They said it was extremely hot and humid. They also had a lot of overcast days and rain on and off... but that might have been b/c of Hurricane Rita.

Thanks for the post Micheme! I am going to send a link to my sis. She has been really upset about this. I told her that there would probably just be scattered short showers and it sound like this is the case.

By the way, your daughter is absolutely gorgeous!

Ahh, my darling sister forgets the wonderful luck I always have!! Prepare for sunami's little one!

The humidity in Florida brews until the afternoon Sun cooks it just enough to cause a quick shower/downpour. Just go in the next attraction and by the time you come back out the rain will be over and the Sun will quickly dry any puddles left over. Oh yeah --don't take your umbrellas to FL.(lightning)

THat is the standard forecast for the WDW area, and it means they don't have a clue if, when , where, or for how long it may--or may not-rain.
Remember--if you look at the "probablility" the other way--a 70% chance of no rain!!!
In actuality, our experience (in going down this time of year 20+ times since 1975), is that it probably won't rain. IF it does, it'll be a mid-late afternoon thundershower, lasting a hour or so then going completely away.
We always take a very light jacket down with us, but in all honesty, I do not recall ever having to wear it, even at night.

dont you worry a bit....we have been several times where they say rain rain rain ..and well no rain..then they have said..sunny sunny sunny..and guess what...rain......a 30% chance of rain is very slim.....go and have a great time..we get their friday also and will be there for 10 days !!!

If they told you it was going to snow, whould you still change your plans?? BTW 10% chances of snow all next week at WDW. Thats right I said SNOW............Yes they are in the finishing process of Osbourne lights.

You can walk into a ride and be clear as day walk out 20 min later and its pouring. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Its all fun and games till that electricity comes out of the sky and then everything closes it seems.

Have fun and dont worry about it :D
