Hi i am a little confused?!

I thought you were allowed to wear your wedding attire when dining as long as you werent in the parks!

We have booked a meal for us both on our wedding day at the contemporary resort and was told that we are not allowed to wear wedding attire, is this true?

Thank you for any light you can share on the matter :confused3

Who told you that? I was also told we could not wear our wedding attire only in the parks. Everywhere else was OK. :confused3

I wore mine in May at the CR and ate at the concourse steakhouse, I saw another bride wearing her dreas at V&A.

that is strange? which restuarant? not the same thing, but they made me take my bride ears off before going up in the elevator to CG in May because it is "business casual now" as the CM expressed... funny that we saw people in jeans and shorts when we got up there!

Did you book reservations at the CG? The CG has rooms that can be used for wedding receptions. This is just a guess, but perhaps a custom bride is having her wedding reception there the night you made your dinner reservations and that's why they won't allow you to wear your dress? DFTW does try to keep brides out of sight of each other....But its also possible that the CM you booked your reservations with just had the wrong info. I would check in with your EM.

I don't think anyone can tell you what to wear to dinner !!
Is it really any different to ball-gown dining ? No, its a formal outfit for a formal affair. You do what you want !

when i rung for my PS at the concourse steakhouse i just thought i had better check that i could wear my wedding dress! She went and checked and came back saying i couldn't! So maybe i will be best asking my wedding co-ordinator...if i can get in touch with her!

I have also booked a birthday cruise at night time (though will be decorated for wedding) and was told i couldnt wear it for that either! Is this also true! :confused3

Thank you all for your messages!

We renewed our vows off-site at Leu Gardens in April, so obviously we didn't even have a FTW and I wore my gown to both lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe and dinner at Citrico's. In fact, I wore it all day at the resort and we took our own pics around the resort. Nobody said a word. We were guests at the Grand Floridian so I don't know if that made a difference. Can't see how, however, because nobody asked where we were staying.

In fact, one of the ladies in the concierge told us to head over to the Wedding Pavilion to take some photos in the outside garden if we wanted. I told her that our wedding was not thru FTW and she said that as long as there was not another wedding taking place at that time we, as guests of the hotel, could certainly take pictures anywhere on property. We did not though, felt a little weird as we did not renew our vows there....

I don't see why you couldn't wear your dress for the cruise - unless policy has changed. Last year our family took an Illuminations cruise and saw a newly married couple in one of the pontoon boats (they were clearly in their wedding attire) It looked very romantic.

Best of luck!

Hi,

We are having an Intimate Wedding in February 06, have been assigned an EM, but will not get our planning packet until the end of August because they don't have updated information yet.

I spoke to EM last week and was told that we are allowed to wear wedding attire at the resort restaurants. I will call her tomorrow, she does get back to me by the end of the day when I leave a message, and ask her again about this, as well as the question about the cruise, will let you know what she tells me.

I'm not sure if the Swan and Dolphin follow the same dining policy, they do not do things through FTW at all, so maybe that would be an option if the other resort restaurants have changed the policy?

Thank you all for your help! I feel that the lady i spoke to may have got it wrong!? I may re-ring disney and ask! Thank you again!

Not to be a wet blanket or anything, but I definitely think you’re doing the right thing checking with your EM. While I understand where those who are saying to just wear the dress are coming from, I don’t think it is probably the wisest choice. While it’s certainly possible that no one would say anything, if you were to bump into another FTW bride at the resorts, Disney could get a bit upset. I just wouldn’t want you to end up in a situation where any embarrassment might be caused. I have heard that you can wear your dress at the resort restaurants, but I would confirm just to be sure with your EM. Disney does indeed try to keep brides from running into each other, so they schedule where everyone will be. I know it can be a pain to deal with, but hang in there!

The rule about not wearing the dress in the parks is certainly true and the enforce it.

But, outside the parks, I can't imagine why you couldn't wear it. I agree checking with your EM is a good idea.

I have worn mine to dinner at V &A, to dinner at CA Grill, on the monorail, on the Breathless, and on the Grand One.

Hugs and pixie dust for your planning!

Elisabeth, I saw your point, so I checked this out with a couple of contacts and the answer I got is that DFTW will only make a point of trying to keep other brides Custom or Intimate brides out of sight from each other whilst they (the DFTW CM) are still there controlling/overseeing the event- once the EM/WP/CM or whatever they call themselves these days, have finished their duties with the bride then they actually have no control over whether another bride sees another bride. Infact I have been in The California Grill with 2 Intimate wedding parties at the same time - it was cute and I think they had a picture taken together.

Hi,

Sorry it took a while to get back to you, I did ask my EM and she told me that nothing has changed in the policy about not allowing wedding attire in the resort restaurants, or the speciality cruises. She confirmed that I will be able to wear my gown in any of the resort restaurants. She also said that if the policy changed, they would be the first to know.

I would get in touch with your EM, (mine is Jennifer O'Leary) and tell her or him what you were told.

I also contacted the Swan and Dolphin - if you are interested in more of a reception/dinner, they have hospitality suites at the Swan, which are like small conference/banquet rooms (about 450 sq) with a balcony that faces Epcot, and there is no minimums that you need to meet to use them, you just need to use their catering a la cart menu, and there is no charge for the use of the room. It would need to be decorated, etc, but it is an option for Intimate brides that want a private space. You also do not need to get married there or stay there to use this option.

They sent me information and menus - let me know if you want me to e-mail any of this info to you.

Hi Everyone!

Bridegirl - I was just wondering if since you listed 2 dinners in your gown, did you then go to dinners not on your actual wedding day? I talked to my EM about going to the Wilderness Lodge after my Bridal Shoot 3 days after my Wedding and she said that was fine since right now there are no brides book for that day at the Wilderness Lodge. So, I was thinking of heading back to the Grand Floridian for a breakfast maybe at 1900 park fare. Would this be allowed then?

Thanks everyone!

Have A Disney Day!!!
