Sorry it took a while to get back to you, I did ask my EM and she told me that nothing has changed in the policy about not allowing wedding attire in the resort restaurants, or the speciality cruises. She confirmed that I will be able to wear my gown in any of the resort restaurants. She also said that if the policy changed, they would be the first to know.
RJ I think what Melichar was saying was that when she checked with her EM they did indeed confirm that policy had not changed and you could wear your dress in resort restaurants and on the speciality (Illumination/Wishes) cruises. I'm pretty sure you should be OK with this for sure
I had no idea you were not allowed to wear wedding attire in the parks! I was tempted to take mine for Mickey's Not So Very Scary Halloween Party, but my husband vetoed this idea. Does anyone know the reason Disney is against this?? (just curious)

Well, one reason is they don't want anyone doing their ceremony in the parks guerilla style. My advice would be if you want people to know you are married or engaged is to wear the bridal ears, you will get a ton of attention and everyone will make a fuss over you if that's what you want.

We were told it was (at least partially) a liability issue. They don't want someone to get hurt because they are not attentive, nor do they want you to get hurt because someone won't leave you alone. Have you seen a celebrity get recognized in a park? It causes a fuss, people start pushing and they are escorted to a backstage area. If you are in the park on your own you don't have an escort to help you.

I think that Disney has several reasons for not allowing bridal gowns in the parks except for brides that have in-park wedding events (like a reception in the Magic Kingdom or Epcot, for example). As others mentioned, Disney doesnt want people to be able to wear wedding attire and hire a minister to do an in-park wedding that doesnt go through Fairy Tale Weddings. Disney wants control of all the on-property weddings, which is understandable. Additionally, I dont think they want any confusion about brides vs. princess characters when it comes to crowds and kids.
Hello all, thanks for filling me in the dress rule. All the reasons make great sense, I just had never thought about it. I didn't have a Disney Wedding so I just had no idea.
