Do alot of people wear the robes provided at the GF to the pool? What sizes would the robes be that are in the room? Thanks. Also, do they only provide 2 robes?

Yes, people do wear the robes to the pool, I do too. You may have opened up a can of worms on this board though. There was a "robe war" not too long ago and it got pretty unpleasant! Isn't it funny what things become controversial and what doesn't?
LOL!!

one size fits all. They have two in the room, you can call housekeeping if you need more.

I never intended to cause any trouble. I just wondered because 3 ladies, myself included will be going next April. My DD is 5'9 and my mom is 5'0. So probably I will use the robe instead of my mom since one size fits all would be way to big for her. Just didn't know if they wear them to the pool, seems like a nice touch though.

I am one who said that I've lived in FL for 27 years and have NEVER seen anybody wear a bathrobe to a pool, BUT..... lo and behold guess what I saw from my balcony the other day????

Two ladies were headed to the pool (I live in a condo) and they were both wearing robes!!!!!! One yellow, one pink... they were both about a hundred years old, but nevertheless... there they were!

Wear your robes to the pool!!! To me, it would be way too hot, but it might be nice when you get out of the water!

Recently returned from the GF. Two robes in each room. And regarding the one size fits all....... well perhaps if you are a size ten or smaller. I did not notice the robes being worn at the pool.
I did notice people wearing them while enjoying the concierge breakfast. I thought this was a bit tacky.

I would agree that the label should read "One size fits most!" I am a plus size (22) and could barely wrap the darn thing around myself! I saw lots of women especially wearing their robes to the pool both times we stayed at the GF.

I sometimes wear them to the pool, but more often than not, I wear my own beach cover-up. During my GF stay last Fall, I wore my cover-up the whole time and left the robe in the room. It's all a matter of personal preference.

I will be at the GF again very soon and plan on wearing my beach cover-up again. That way my robe will stay nice and dry for when I return to my room to take a shower after my swim. :D

When we stayed at the GF last year, we saw many, many people wearing their robes. As far as sizes, we had two robes in our room. They both said one size fits all but one was definitely bigger than the other. Also, if you have more than 2 adults in your room, you can request a third robe.

I guess this is why we've never stayed at the GF......I want to go to a place we we can relax and not be judged. If people want to wear a robe, let them wear a robe. As long as it's not inappropriate for kids, what's the harm?

No harm whatsoever. I just would never eat breakfast in a public place in a bathrobe.
Sorry if I offended you.
This was my first stay at the GF. My sister was attending a conference there, and we were freely upgraded to concierge level.
Believe me, the GF is no different than any other resort.
Not stuffy at all!!!!
If you get the opportunity, try it.

we just stayed at the poly and i saw a woman in a robe at the pool, and all i kept thinking was, eeeww, she looks like she just stepped out of the shower, now she is prancing around in public and (she forgot to wear her towel on her head ) lol.lol

maybe we will see people wearing their pj's down to the pool next, lol.lol

its just to funny !

Hi All,

Just wondering if the GF provides robes in all of their rooms or just their concierge level rooms?

Hi,

I stayed at GF last year, Lagoon View but did not have concierge and noticed two robes in my closet.

I also noticed that many people did use the robes. I thought it was nice to see them being used around the pool!

I am not the proverbial size 10 and usually have some trouble with the "one size fits all" philosophy but the GF robes were fine; guess I found a slightly more commodious one. The atmosphere at GF seemed a bit more adult and hushed although there were kids around. It was EXACTLY my style!!

Isn't it funny how times do change? At one time in history, some of today's swimsuits would be considered vulgar and totally inappropriate for wearing in public at all. Everyone would be wondering "why doesn't that woman cover herself!?!?" ;) Today, some are more concerned about the mentality of those fully covered by a bathrobe upon getting out of the pool than they are of those who are wearing a suit in public that comes far from covering the body at all.

FYI: I'm not at all criticizing anyone's viewpoint, just simply pointing out how times do change . . .

I say go for the bathrobe at the pool! Others do it, and afterall, what's the harm?

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your input. I have a feeling we all will be wearing the robes to the pool. My 75 yo mom will get a real kick out of it. She has never stayed in any hotel except the motel 6 type(not that there is anything wrong with that) going down to Florida, but I won't get into it being a second marriage and very cheap husband. So it will be fun to really treat her, she has no clue how nice it is. Thanks again, especially since we can ask for one extra robe. Oh, I read they sell them in the gift shop, does anyone know how much they cost?

The ones you get in the room are 100% cotton with no GF monogram. They have the same robes in the gift store with the GF monogram for $75.00 (as of last August). However, there is another robe as well which has the same material on the inside but the outside is a more cuddly silky feel to it. It was beautiful - very nice. This one went for $125.00 and it also had the GF monogram.

There was also a sign that said with 24 hour notice they could personalize a monogram for you but I wasn't sure on the cost for this.

I had no idea they'd provide a child-sized robe upon request - DD would have loved this! We just got back from the CR, and every time the monorail stopped at the GF, she'd ask, loudly, why we weren't getting off at her favorite hotel, and why weren't we staying here on this vacation. Only 5 years old and she's already developing good taste ;) !
