I've seen many pictures of little girls wearing princess dresses while at the Disney parks. This is 3.5 y/o DD's first trip, she LOVES the Disney princesses and has two dresses. That said, it will be hot while we're there and the dresses don't strike me as being very comfortable. *I* certainly wouldn't want to be in that dress in hot, muggy heat while running around an amusement park.

Would you bother having her wear them? I know it looks like fun to be dressed as a princess, would make cute pictures but the practical side of me thinks she would be better off in comfy shorts and a t-shirt.

DD loves wearing her dresses. I always throw a tshirt and shorts in the bag, but she wears the dresses happily. It is so adorable seeing them and how happy it makes me, so even if she only wore it for an hour, I think it is worth it (at least to me).

We have five dresses for our October trip (my amazing Mom makes the dresses for her) and I think she will wear every one of them.

I am packing jeans and t-shirt just in case. But my DD currently has at least 3 dresses she is wearing and there is noooooo way i am telling her she cant :rotfl: she would look like Tinkerbell i believe if I attempted that.

Both my girls like to wear their princess dresses when we're at Disney and I usually ask if they want to wear clothes underneath, like a tank top and shorts, so we can take off the princess dress anytime we want and not miss a beat. However, neither has ever complained about wearing the dresses and they wear them all day. I think they both made it to about 8:30 pm last year and we had an early BBB appointment that day, so they wore them for over 12 hours!

You'll be amazed at what little girls will endure in order to prance around in a Princess dress at Disney.... :lmao::lmao:

My DD's have never worn (or asked) to wear princess dresses at Disney, though they do have them and wear them at home. I agree that they seem hot and uncomfortable. I do buy them cute shirts to wear every day. I think you would be fine not bringing them if you are concerned. Some girls have them on but yours will be far from the only girls not wearing them if you decide to not bring them.

I just spent a small fortune buying a slew of all cotton princess dresses on etsy for my nieces for our trip next month.

DD (6 yrs old) has worn her princess dresses on different occasions, especially to breakfast at CRT!
I always put on a tank top under her dress incase the sequence itch, but she leaves it on most of the day then does like to change into something more comfortable & lightweight. I would def bring her dresses and she can always change, it's so cute to see them all dressed up!

I bought our girls dresses at Little Dress Up Shop to make them a little more comfortable. My oldest (9 at the time) chose to change after breakfast into something else, my second daughter (7 at the time) not only wore her Cinderella dress all day but wore her dressy shoes too and insisted she was perfectly comfortable in both ;) granted we were there in February so it wasn't too hot but I could tell she was loving it and I have to admit I loved watching her walk around holding her dress to not get dirty like a little princess that I could see she felt like that day :)

We just returned a couple of weeks ago from WDW. My 7 year old had 2 princess dresses and a pirate dress from POTC. She wore all 3 mutiple times! Yes she was hot but we kept her drinking water and she was fine. They will endure all the elements to wear those dresses. And we did the heat, humidity and the torrential rain.

This. My dd always did a tank and shorts under so that way if she did become uncomfortable the dress could go. And I can only remember one time that she did take it off. BUT it was REALLY REALLY warm that day.

I make my DD's dresses and make sure they are all cotton. I feel like they are more comfortable and feel like they hold up better at the parks. Last year she had Alice, Snow White regular, Snow White rag dress (SW is her favorite princess) and Ariel in her blue land dress. I'm starting to make her dresses for our November trip, including Briar Rose and an Anna dress-thinking the toddler outfit rather than the Winter or Ball gown dress.

There are loads of options on Etsy to choose from.

I also have a 3.5 year old. She LIVES to wear her dresses at Disney World, because she gets TONSSSS of attention when she does- all the characters and CMs really play up to the children (boys and girls) dressed in costume. Even guests love it. The children dressing up really adds to the magic of Disney.

That being said, we are going in September this year (heat...yikes!) and yes, she 100% will be wearing her dresses. However- I am bringing 2 sets of clothing for her in zip locks- one summer cotton dress, and a pair of shorts/shirt. I know she's going to get hot, and this way she'll have options to change.

FYI: my DD happens to be obsessed with all dresses, and wants to always wear any kind of dresses. So I'm packing in the parks both types of clothing to give her options.

BRING THE DRESSES! You can always change her.

Plus, if she's meeting the princesses, you will want to change her into her gown. It's just too cute and the princesses always make such a fuss over the costumes on the little ones! :cheer2:

Here's what we used to do:

We would bring whichever Princess costumes had survived from Halloweens past.

Then, on our way into a Princess dinner, we would put it over my daugther's shorts and T. She woudl wear it through dinner, then choose whether or not to keep it on for the evenng's touring. When she decided it was no longer comfortable, she took it off.

It worked incredibly well for us.
