Wearing Pajamas at the Mall

Hi DISers:

I was one of the millions of people out shopping last Friday morning. I saw several women at both Target and the Mall wearing flannel pajama bottoms with coats over them. I don't know if they had pajama tops on as well?:confused3

I can understand this might be a "trend" with teens, but I am talking about grown women ages 30 - 60. Is this the new style for women? Do they wear these same pajamas to bed as well or do they have some nightime pjs and other daytime pjs?

One woman caught me looking at her and gave me a really dirty look back. I couldn't help it! I was shocked that someone was wearing flannel pjs with green snowmen on them to Target!:rotfl2:

So confession time: Have you ever worn pajamas out shopping to the Mall?

don't know if this is the case but on the news I saw some stores had a promotion....giveaways to folks wearing their PJs on Black friday in the AM....
the one I saw began at midnight on friday....

But personally...no sale is worth losing my dignity....:goodvibes :lmao:

I hate it when I see this.

My BIL saw a group of boys in their PJS & took he 3 teenage sons over & said "You are never to go out looking like this"

Our local outlet mall (Prime Outlets) had some big promo where you got a free gift and special discounts if you wore your jammies shopping. They opened at midnight.

I was in sweatpants that say "West Virginia" down the side...

...but thats mostly because barely any of my clothes fit anymore! :rotfl:

I havent worn pjs to the mall. But I can understand. Many times Im too lazy to put pants on and just wheel the garbage cans down the driveway in my boxers. Havent received any complaints yet.

OP here. It's comforting to know that perhaps they were wearing their pjs as part of a promotional event and not as a fashion statement.

I will admit that I have put my coat over my pjs to bring in the Sunday morning paper from the mailbox. But I have never worn them "off my property."

I would never go out in public with my PJ's. I have only done it a few times to take out the garbage, but that's it.

Never!!

Honestly, I think it's trashy. There are other pants that aren't pj pants that are just as comfortable that look much better.

A step up: sweatpants.

I only wear my pajamas at home, never out in public. I don't care if other people want to wear their pajamas in public, I guess that's their choice, as long as they are covered appropriately. (although appropriately is a subjective word..not everyone has the same definition)

It doesn't surprise me. I went to a meeting at DS's school last year and some mom was in the office wearing a Tink cami pajama top with matching pajama bottoms and fluffy Tink slippers.

Oh good LORD!

I thought it was bad that I hadn't washed my hair!

I'm a college student and people wear pjs to class all the time. Personally, I hate it and have never worn pjs away from my dorm, but that's just me.

This is very common where I live. I wear pajama or exercise-type pants in my house, but I have never left the house without putting on a pair of jeans, dress pants, or a skirt. (Even taking a walk or playing across the street with my kids.) Often it seems like I'm the only person in the store that is not wearing pajamas. I'm also one of the few that dress nicely when going to my kids' school. I would say about 1/2 of the parents wear pajama pants to open house and to pick the kids up after school.

OP, if this is the first time you noticed this than maybe Black Friday might be the excuse for it.

I haven't, but hoestly I don't give a rat's fanny what other people wear as long as it doesn't have anything offensive written on it or show off parts of their body the general populace doesn't need to see. Pj's=lazy, but they are completely innocuous.

Luckily it was required at our downtown Pajama Party. Even the people working in the stores wore their jammies.

I admit the first year I was a little skeptical - wondered if I was going to be the only one! But nope - everyone does it.

However, it would have to be a really really good deal to get me to wear them to the mall!!

:)

I'm one of those folks that never leaves the house without make-up, hair done, etc. But honestly, I could not care less what someone else is wearing as long as it's not offensive. I do sometimes wonder if some folks even look in the mirror before they leave the house...:rolleyes1

No PJ's for me, but I see people all the time at Wal-Mart in PJ tops, bottoms and slippers, at 2pm also.

I've worn the bottoms of flannel PJ's at Wal-mart in the past during my college days...I also worn them to early classes as well.

People wearing PJ's in public doesn't bother me.

I wear sweatpants all the time. I like to be comfortable. I figure I graduate from college in May, so I'm going to milk it for all that its worth until then. Then again, I go get the paper in my towel, so I really have no shame I guess.
