I'm very upset b/c I have had some DISigners make me some WONDERFUL disigns for my grand gathering...well one of the family members showed a friend of theirs the shirt and now it has snowballed about if we can wear them. I was questioned if the shirts were approved by disney...and I said well I'm making them to wear and not selling them, so why would they have to be? And then someone else told me that they were not allowed in Disney with their "homemade" shirts b/c of copyrighting laws, etc.
So now after I already made 12 shirts for my son & nephews...and beginning to make my 15 grand gathering shirts, everyone is afraid to wear them.
I just don't know what to do!!! :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:
I have been on these boards for months, and I have seen & read about everyone wearing the shirts in Disney...Oh please someone help me feel better about this! I want to strut my wonderful shirts around for everyone to see!

On our December trip my DD, DS, two friends and their children all wore my DISigns (and other DISigner's work) on shirts, everyday of our 2 week stay!!
The only comments we heard from CMs or our fellow guests were positive and admiring. Go ahead with your planned shirts and enjoy wearing them!!!!

I make tshirts for everyone in my party (sometimes as big as 8) (except my DH won't wear them:lmao: ) and I have never had a problem. :thumbsup2 Enjoy. Penny:wave2:

I have also worn homemade trips everytime I go and I have never had a problem!!!Wear your shirts with pride!:goodvibes

Our group of 9 wore the shirts I made in Oct and got nothing but compliments. Wear them and enjoy your trip!

We wore them everyday of our past 2 trips and plan on wearing them on our next. We had so many CM's comment on how much they loved them. No one said anything bad. I think you're going to be fine. Don't let this spoil your fun. Wear your shirts with pride!!!

Our family wears our homemade shirts every time we go. Everyone, even the cast members tell us how nice they are. We were also wearing them when went to the Flights of Wonder Show and when the "tour guide" came out he said we were his group :lmao:

This is only a few of us in the Mickey Minnie shirts I made. Notice that every one picked their favorite colors of Minnie's dress so they would be a little different.

This one is hard to see but DD has Ariel and I have Tinkerbell. Under the pictures I put Disney Kid and Disney Mom.

I can't wait to make the new ones for this trip that donatalie made for us.

I made shirts for the 3 of us and we wore them everyday while we were there and we had compliments from CM's..wear them with joy...and enjoy your magical time :)

We wore ours everyday and got lots of great comments for CMs.
Even Minnie Mouse herself pointed at our shirts and gave us a thumbs up in the parade!
We didnt have any negative remarks....except for the fact that me and my DDs wore our shirts and DH would wear one-- "3 family members and a stranger" was what a CM called us!

Thanks for the thanks, You will be surprised at the number of positive comments you get. The other thing I do is wear my pin trading logo, my avatar (see left) a name tag or my Lime green Mickey Head on a sleeve. That way others who are DISers might recognize me. :)
I have met a few DISers this way. Have fun. Here's a sample of my pin trading log (which I didn't do :)).

I'm late to this thread, but I'm glad you have it all sorted out. My group of 6 wore our homemade shirts at least 4 times that week (couldn't push TO hard, my son is 17 and wasn't very happy to do it, but he did!) and we had nothing but compliments. We were even stopped by CM's so they could read our shirts!

Have fun making the rest! It is addicting!

:offtopic: Not totally, but a little!

I have posted this on other post and at other times, but let me add/tell my story about wearing the 'dreaded' matching shirts!

1st trip to WDW as an adult/mother about 7 years ago, at the time we didn't have all these great Disers to help us with shirts/tags etc....(Thank goodness we do now, the software has gotten WAY beyond my computer skills!) So I made my family shirts using I think it was Mickey and Friends Print Artist/Studio, it was a very basic, very bland software compared to what you all have now. But it did the trick!

So we are exploring MK, we have matching Blue Shirts That say: The Aaron Family Vacation 2002 and Mickey and the Gang on them. We get compliments left and right, we can find our people very easily, etc...

Well, my ds 4 at the time and I, go to Toontown and are waiting to see Mickey when I drop my new high tech digital camera, so we see Mickey and head over to the playground, so that I can asses/fix the camera and he can play. I sit down on the bench and he heads off(I think you know by now where this is going!) I, stupidly, thought there was only one way in and out. I look down at my camera and I swear, It was not even a minute and he was gone! I go flying all over looking every which way, I head to find a castmember as I head towards the front of Toontown, I see my son, a castmember and a young couple coming towards me. They, the young couple, had seen him wandering and no other blue shirts with him. They had seen our shirts/crew earlier and knew he should have been with a matching shirt. So they knew to look for a blue shirt, found a castmember to help, so my son wouldn't get scared and returned him to an in tears mother! All of this in less than probably five minutes, though it seemed like ages!

The dh had made fun of our shirts earlier in the day, the young lady explained and had said that she had to promise that no matter how many of them there were she would never make him wear the 'dreaded' shirts. I received a picture from there first trip to WDW with children about 2 years ago, all of them in matching shirts!

So, needless to say, I have never made a trip without them!

Good Luck and Have fun with the shirts! They can be a real life/mommy saver!

your story brought tears to my eyes. I have no children, but have been with families that have. The shirts I have found serve many purposes. :thumbsup2 Enjoy your next trip and thanks for the great story. Penny:flower3:

I am glad you found him. That is awesome about the other family. It is great that they found him and returned him to you. I love that they sent you a photo of their shirts!

hi there, we just got back today and there were 13 of us and we wore matching shirts all 7 days and trust me 13 of us matching stood out. I was amazed by the wonderful comments we received from everyone including the cast members, you would have thought they had never seen anyone do this before, it was great and we loved the attention. I put pictures up before we left but i hope to get pictures up soon with all of us in the shirts. so i would go ahead and proudly wear your shirts, you shouldn't have any problems.
