wearing glow necklaces on dark rides

someone asked about flashes and it made me wonder about the glow necklaces...does it spoil the dark rides...should i have my kids take them off and put them in a backpacK?

You know, I have heard this can help little kids who are maybe afraid or uneasy on dark rides. That being said, I was riding next to a kid in a doombuggy on the Haunted Mansion and his glow necklace gave away the effect at the 'swinging wake' scene. That's the only ride I can really think of that a glow necklace might spoil...

Glow necklaces shouldn't bother anyone IMO.

Glow necklaces never bothered me. I don't like it when kids use those light spinners in the dark rides though, sort of distracting. Sea World was the worst. At the Pets Ahoy show, which is a semi-dark theatre, they were selling every light toy known to man before the show started. The kids were too busy trying out their new gadgets to watch the show. They even made noise which was even worse.

If your kid is afraid of the dark, then a small light during a ride is okay as long as they keep it pointed towards the floor and don't swing it around wildly. If they're not afraid of the dark, put the toys away on rides.

this thread reminds! i loved getting those glowing neckles when i was lil at disney! i thought they were very cool! this time i neeed to get a glowing necklaces for my nieces while were in the MK park! by they way do the have those necklaces in the other parks beside the the MK?

I hope this wasn't my neice. She wore a glow necklace and waved it around because she was afraid in the ride. It didn't take away from the experience at all in my opinion.

yea when we go on haunted mansion my bro had a buzz flashlite because he was scared and then it broke down and it was dark so we had flashlights and glow sticks and turned them on so i don't if think they ruin the ride but if your children are scared of the dark were em it makes you look cool

about what time they start selling the glowing necklaces in parks! seems like they sell them sometime before the last parade then MK closes?

No, this was years ago. The effect I am referring to is the ballroom scene. I couldn't ever figure out how it was done until I was riding next to a kid with a necklace on and it reflected in the GLASS that you are looking through. Spoiled the effect of looking over the balcony, IMHO.

Around here you can buy glowing necklaces at the dollar store. You could buy them ahead of time and pack them for your trip. They're like the glow sticks in that you "crack" them and shake them to start the glowing.

Glowsticks are great. I can't see anyone having a problem with them. DD and I rode next to a child on Haunted Mansion who had a small flashlight. It really didn't bother me, but it was way more obvious than a glow necklace would be.
