Wearing a mask...

When Disney re-opens, will you wear a simple face mask, just in case...?

There's a lot of information out there on both wearing and not wearing a simple face mask when out in public (I'm not talking about the N95 Face Masks Medical Personnel need to wear to protect themselves and others) When Disney re-opens, what will you do?

It would be miserable to wear a mask for hours outside in Florida in the summer. We will do it if we have to, but we will be forced to limit our time in the parks.

I am curious if Disney will change their policy, which does not allow guests over age 14 to wear masks in the parks.

If you're asking because you'd like to wear a mask for the virus, those kinds of masks have always been fine.

Actually I was just curious, not that I wanted to wear one there. I'd be inclined to wait until those are no longer necessary, as it would ruin the pictures.

I won’t be going on a vacation to Disney or anywhere else if a mask is required. I would feel better just staying home. A mask isn’t vacation attire in my book.

Imagine the tan lines. :rotfl2:

But in all seriousness, I think if a face mask were a requirement, that maybe the parks wouldn't be opened. At this point it's all such an unknown that I wouldn't say I'd never do it, but I'll be honest it would make me think twice.

For those who have dreamed of adult only days at WDW, your opportunity will be to visit if and when they require masks.

I can't imagine any parent wanting to fight with kids all day about keeping those masks on for the sake of a "vacation". You know how hard it is to get some kids to put on their ears for the photo? Now imagine something even more uncomfortable and needing to keep it on all day long. Times however many kids you have. Sounds oh so magical.

I agree. And I can just hear the constant refrain, don’t touch your mask.

If it means I get into the park when it's capped at 25% or 50% occupancy, sign me up.

I do have an ace up my sleeve though. While working on restoring my sailboat I bought a pair of very tiny powered respirators and I would have no hesitation to suit up with one if those. They look like...

Except my mask fits me a little better and isn't quite so clunky on the face. This is the Cleanspace2 and it filters at the hepa level. It's designed to be worn all day by welders and miners. There's video of a guy wearing one cleaning up lead dust from the Nitre Dame cathedral.

I've been wondering if someone might be developing a powered respirator for daily personal use. Maybe downgrade the filter from 97 to 95% and slim the whole thing down a bit more. But for me this is actually fine.

I hope it's not mandatory at WDW when it opens. If it is, then NO I won't be going.
I hope they leave it up to the people themselves. If someone feels like they need one for whatever reason, then they should wear one. It's all about individual responsibility. If you are vulnerable, then you probably do things to protect yourself, such as staying away from crowds, or wearing a mask. It should be left up to the individuals level of comfort while at Disney.
