Would it be acceptable to wear a kilt as formal wear?
(with jacket and tie, of course)

Of course! :goodvibes

I assume if you have a kilt, you know the proper way to wear it with all the proper accessories.
You will stand out, yes. And you will look fabulous!
What clan?

As long as you don't plan on going commando that night, I don't see why not. ;)

Funny you should mention that. We were on RCL with a group of Scottish rugby players who wore kilts on formal night. Apparently our (large) group was taking too long during our photo op and we got mooned by them. The look of shock on our faces was priceless... Later that night in the bar, one of the guys was doing whirling dirvishes while performing Karaoke to Elvis' "You ain't nothing but a hound dog." The commando thing didn't go over big with the DJ who promptly kicked him out.

Our Scottish friend dons his kilt on formal night. (are you out there, Stevie?)

Sounds pretty cool to me. If the Duke of Edinburgh can wear a kilt at a formal occasion, it must be appropriate!

My DH wears his kilt for formal nights aboard DCL. :thumbsup2 We have seen all styles whilst cruising - from Scottish formal to outfits including plaids, brooches and feathered Glengarries. Bring whatever you are comfortable with - or however much your luggage will allow. ;)

We always leave the Skean Dhu at home to save any problems when travelling though.

Yes! I saw a gentleman wearing a kilt on formal night on my cruise earlier this month.:)

Yep...have seen men in kilts many times over the years onboard DCL and other cruiselines...wear it proudly!!!

Absolutely! I congratulate you for being proud of your heritage. I'd wear my Welsh outfit on formal night, except I think the hat might scare the kids...

Hi there,

Kilts are fine, although heavy on weight, so watch your baggage allowance I get past this by wearing my kilt outfit home and then changing whilst on the plane.

I am on the left of this picture, some "broad" in the middle and my sisters BF also
