We were ignored at Ohana :(

Oh Ohana.... I've been there 3 times, every time for breakfast. The first time was great. Second time (May 2007) the only character we saw was Stitch. No one else got around to us and we were told that Lilo was out surfing that day. And the 3rd time (Sept 2007) we were there for about an hour and no characters came to our table at all. The food is great. We're giving it another chance this coming trip, mainly for the food (the juice in itself is fantastic!), but if we don't see the characters this time, I'm gonna question what's going on. The restaurant isn't that big that the characters can't get around to everyone...

The last two times we were there, Sept 07 and Jan 08, I too felt rushed and ignored. Everyone wanted the bread pudding, but she brought the kids ice cream and two servings of the bread pudding for the adults. We will be back, but this time, we will clearly let them know that for 100 meal, we expect more than a 45 minute meal!

We went for the first time this past Aug. and LOVED it!

We had a great server (who spoke very little English) and he worked his tail off for us! We had so much food at our little table of 2 that we told him to stop bringing us food b/c we would never eat that much. We did have 3 bread puddings :rotfl: (that stuff is awesome and DH would go back just for that!). The place was packed and we figured that we wouldn't get a lot of food or good service it being only the 2 of us, but we were extremely happy with Ohana and want to go back when we go to the world again.

I think that there is something to be said for the CMs...they are human and they will make mistakes and they will be stressed out - heck, I'm like that every now and then too when I'm at work; granted I do apologize for it and I don't hear alot of that in everyone else's posts. WDW is suppose to be the "happiest place on Earth" (I think it is), but I definately get better service at their worst than I do at the local Outback (fill in the blank restaurant) in the midwest...just my take on it.

Well, sadly I have to join the nay-sayers here. I used to love 'Ohanas, as I would always go here on every trip. I ate there last February, and had wonderful servers and felt welcomed, and not rushed. They explained some hawaiian words - that Ohanas meant family, pointed out some cool Hawaiian things in the restaurant, just a nice time overall. It was a restaurant I always looked forwards to eating at. It was a fun experience. :)

Sadly I ate there three weeks ago on January 23rd, and the magic was gone for sure. I had a waiter who barely mumbled a sentence to me before rushing off. There was no welcome, no nothing. I hardly saw him the whole time. Did feel somewhat ignored, but I was a solo diner, so a low tip so why should he try much? Basically just no "fun" feeling of eating there this time. And when I was packing up to go, they were already bringing new guests to my table! Well, I got the message that they wanted me to leave NOW - geescsh! The whole experience was "blah", while in the past it was fun.

So count me as one who will hesitate to return (especially since they removed the shrimp in the sauce). :(

I am sorry to hear about your bad experience at 'ohana.

It's amazing how different our experiences were. This was the best meal of our trip.

DH & I were there the night before (Jan 13th) and had an AWESOME dinner.
Our ADR's were early (5:20) We checked in @ 5, were handed a pager, then were seated within 10 mins. We were shown to our table by the window and had an incrediable view of the castle. Our wait staff was great. Our meal was well paced. We were brought food and checked on many times. The food was delecious. We were there almost two hours and never felt rushed.

We kind of had the same problem this past week. We had dinner there on 2/6 it was just my mom, dd and myself we were seated immediately and they brought out our salad right away then the chicken wings and pot sticker/egg roll thingies and then the broccoli/green been mix(this was really peppery and my dd didn't want to eat it and she loves broccoli as much as I do. They came around w/ the beef and pork together then they brought out the shrimp and finally the potatoes, by this point we were pretty much done and wanted dessert but after our first set of drinks it was like they couldn't remember to bring more and at one point we were asked it we wanted anything else and I said dessert and about 15 mins later the waitress came back and asked if we were ready for dessert, duh. I did actually ask what other meats they were serving that night and she was like did you not get turkey which I didn't want any but I wanted to find out if we missed any.

The next morning we had a breakfast ressie and that was even worse we did arrive about 30 mins late but everyone that arrive before and after and way after we all seated before us and normally I wouldn't have really noticed it but the only reason I noticed it was b/c another guest was complaining that everyone that had arrived after her was already seated plus they were still seating everyone that is coming and they were still waiting and they were a party of 4. After being seated it was a little while before our waiter came to our table and he couldn't remember to bring drinks at all and they didn't even bring the waffles to our table until we paid and were getting up to leave.

With that being said it was no more busy than it would have been on any other night (7.40 ressie) or morning (8.30 ressie) so I was a little disappointed b/c it wasn't the same service we have had before but then again a few nights earlier we ate at WCC and they didn't even bring out the salad that was supposed to go w/ the skillet that was ordered for the whole table. I must say that I hope this is not a reflection on what all of our expirences will be like b/c I am willing to give second chances and fully understand and always take into consideration that I don't know the circumstances that would have caused the events that happened. I our best dining expirence the whole trip was that dd got to open the dining room for dinner at 1900 but after downloading everything from my camera to my laptop I can't pull up nor find the video of her doing it.

I'm hoping that my 8:20 ressie for Ohana next Monday will be good, but I'm not expecting much.

Well thanks to this thread, I am taking Ohana off of our list! Thanks for the advice!:thumbsup2

We ate at 'Ohana in December 2005, and had a pretty decent experience. The food kept coming at a steady pace (not quick, but steady). The thing that really went all over me was an experience with the waitress, who was actually very friendly. I told her before dessert that I didn't eat coconut and that I'd pass on the bread pudding and just have the ice cream and sauce. She told me there wasn't coconut in the bread anymore. I was surprised by this, and asked the server who brought it to the table. He of course said there WAS coconut in the bread, so when the waitress came back around with the ticket I mentioned this to her (thinking she had gotten her wires crossed). She laughed and said that she knew that, but that she thought that if I tried it, I wouldn't mind!!!! Now I am a grown woman, and fully capable of deciding what I will and won't eat. What if I had an allergy to coconut instead of just not liking it? I should have said something, but I was just too stunned.
