We did not have the dream team but were given a dream by a supervisor of guest services.

We had been to Ohanas with my DS who has autism. Needless to say it was a bad time and all that I had known about how my world was had fallen apart. I also fell apart from realizing that my DS was no where near normal.

We waited on the platform for the monorail and asked to nose ride. We waited for several monorails to go by until we were given the ok. While walking up to get in, a family from the first car got out and jumped in the nose. Off they went with our ride.

We walked back to the loader and he was so shocked:scared1: . I was telling him how upset I was and the tears were in full flow again. Chris, the man in the blue shirt was listening and he said to our family "It's time for a dream to come true, come with me" He loaded our family into the tail of the monorail!!!:yay: This rarely happens, it is for the President, mayors of very large cities, Oprah!!! Our NT son got to sit in the chair with the panel active. We didn't let your DS with autism even try. It was not where we going but where we had been. We got to around until we wanted to get off and it helped me feel much better.

We did get a dream that no others have ever had!::cheer2: Thank you Chris!!!

Its such a special place!!! I am glad you have that special memory  :wizard: !!

I'm so glad to hear about your :wizard: experience. It's nice to know that even after that other family acted so "Un-Disney like" you were rewarded with such a unique opportunity. :grouphug:

Wow - that is the best story I've read about YOAMD so far. It even made me get teary eyed. It's so great that the cm's were so observant and able to turn a bad situation upside down. :wizard:

:grouphug: First let me say how sorry I feel for the sad times you had. My son is mildly autistic, and I will never forget the realization that you speak of.

Next...congrats on the great wish! The monorail drivers must have a gift. When our son was little, he was nuts about the monorail. A driver spottted our mesmorized little boy on the ramp to the platform in a huge crowd, waded through the crowd, and asked our son to help him pilot the monorail.

I really think that this will be one of those things you remember when you die...a pure act of kindness. I'm so happy that your family got that special wish!:)

Your special dream made me cry. I have a 2 year old son who looks normal, but he has a chromosome disorder and can not talk. It is hard for others to see that there is anything wrong with him at first glance. I know first hand what that end car meant to you and your son. Congratulations! :wizard:

My son is also autistic. Hearing these stories makes me so happy! It's nice to know that there are people with empathy and compassion out there.:yay:

I have told the story of our monorail tail ride to anyone who will listen to me and continue to be amazed at how just one person knew that at that moment I needed something wonderful to help me deal with life.

Disney does that for me each time I go. It helps me deal with all the issues of raising a child with Autism. It provides a place for just a small period of time, my little boy is just like every other normal little boy.

I have diligent in entering the YOMD postcards and today in the mail came two boxes from the dream squad. Both DS and I have won a pair of YOMD ears!

We are so blessed because we have been given a YOMD pin for all but one trip. We were given a magical moment that will never be repeated and we now have a dream squad, even if it was by mail! DS told me I was too loud when I was screaming about getting our ears. :woohoo: He is just a good manners child.

YOMD is really making our dreams come true!:flower3:

I nearly cried reading this, my brother autistic and my mother said this to me a few weeks ago...yes i cried then:confused3
Im 16 and even though i see how hard it is i didnt realise how hard it is for my parents (and all the other parents out there) with a child thats autistic. My mother says she sometimes feels shes done something wrong.:sad2:

Now i do realise how hard it is, especially that people just assume that these are just misbehaved children.
Im so happy you got to experience this your family must have been so happy after the day you had. :cloud9:

What a wonderful, wonderful story. "Magic" just when you needed it most. :goodvibes I'm so glad that cast member was so observant AND willing to take the extra effort to make a little boy's day - not to mention his mom's. :thumbsup2

what a truly special story !!!! our son is also autistic and i remember that feeling all too well. sometimes the harsh words & disapproving looks are enough to make me want to scream. some people are just rude & mannerless. any child regardless of behavior, ability or disability is a blessing and should be celebrated. hang in there you've got alot of people in your corner

Thats cool glad that you and you family got to do that after that family just jumped in like that, congrats. :thumbsup2
