Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. DH booked a trip for a surprise for our 10th anniversary for me, and he got the free water park/hopping upgrade (trip was in early Feb). When he checked in, they asked for the papers that were sent in the mail with the code on them, and said they couldn't apply the water parks/hopping if he didn't have them.

He did, so I don't know for sure what they do in you don't, but just a heads up. If you use a code, take your trip documents with you!

I was under the impression that the park hopper/water park upgrade was a general public code. I know we didn't need a pin # or anything when we booked ours.

I actually rebooked yesterday using the new general public code for April/May MYW w/dining and no pin needed for that either.

Who knows with Disney, every CM has their own spin on the CODE rules!!!!:)

Ditto the pp, the water park/hopper was a general public code, it wasn't a pin code.

Ok, my question is this. I received the 40% code on 3/8 the CM asked for a PIN w/ the code and I told him I didn't have it. After many minutes of being on hold he came back on and told me that everything had been changed over. We even added DDP. Not once did he tell me that I needed to provide proof at check in. And I flat out told him I didn't have it. I don't see how at check in when your package is paid in full that they could go back on it.:confused3

Not sure what you mean by "papers." Do you mean your confirmation papers that come in the mail after you make your reservations? This was a deal/discount for anyone that booked during this timeframe and there was no code/pin needed to get this discount. In fact when I tried pricing this online, it automatically gave me the free park hopping. You didn't need to receive anything in the mail or an email to get this discount.

There is no proof for the public park hopper package deal. I don't know what they asked for but there is no such thing! What kind of proof did you possibly come up with? LOL! Another thing, they do not ask for proof for postcard or email deals either.

There were TWO sets of offer codes for the Free Ticket Upgrade Offer.

The general codes.. for the public at large which were not associated with a mail out and for which -- no proof could be provided.. and a set of different codes associated with a PIN and sent out with a mail-out to Disney customers.

So.. it appears that this particular guest had received the mail offer which was associated with a PIN. Hopefully they'll come back and clarify.

How exactly this impacts other codes -- like the 40% off code -- is yet to be seen. But my 40% off email said nothing about producing it at Check-In and neither did my online confirmation. How they could expect guests to provide proof at Check-In when they were given no notice of proof being required ... that'll be an interesting trick to see how it plays out.

Once again - on my trip Feb 25 to March 03 ... they asked for nothing at Check-In but a credit card for room charges if we so desired.

People lets be reasonable here. Look at your confirmation. If it says proof of AAA membership required, or proof of AP, then yes you might be asked for it and you might not, go prepared.

If there is nothing printed on your confirmation, stating you need to provide proof you will not need it.

I have a postcard offer right in front of me, and no where does it say I will need to bring this postcard with me. It says Offer is nontransferable and that is it.

If the OP will share where this happened, I will gladly check with management there to reassure everyone that this is not a standard procedure.

My confirmation doesn't even have the infamous code printed on it anywhere. My other trip has the AAA on it but this has nothing about any discount at all.

I can reassure you, I had the 40% off code with NO PIN, and it was printed on my confirmation papers. At check-in time, I was only asked to give my credit card, and some form of ID. Other then that, Disney said "thank you for your money", and "have a good time". So no worries, just got back only a few days ago!

Just to let everyone know...

We have just returned from our stay at WDW. I got the 40% discount WITHOUT having the code and i was NOT asked for any proof at check in.

Hope this helps...happy plannng!:thumbsup2

No, it wasn't a pin, but at checkin they required the documents from WDW that had the code showing on it. I think it was the paper that came about 30 days before we left and the 3-digit code (Z something or the other, I think) was printed at the top of it.

Hope this clears it up! I used a discount code in 2004 and 2005 and was not asked for anything at check in, so this surprised me.

That is just the confirmation though I've never even been aske for that at check in. My confirmation I have now for the discounted trip doesn't even mention a code at all. Just has that great price on it.

Just got back..had a Pin # rec'd in the mail..applied to res..was never asked to show it! Had it with me though! lol
Also, can't believe I got a "lakeview" at a Value...it was awesome! $83/night and woke up to beautiful landscaping and a lake....oh and that vacant, deserted building they are just allowing to sit there....lol
Really, the only thing I really think they could ask for, and have a right to is an AAA or AP card...:)

It does clear a LOT up.. that's just borderline ridiculous.

Show us the confirmation for this booking is basically what happened to you.

Not 'Show us proof of Code'.

Did the CM have a "Be Kind, I'm Learning" badge or another CM training them nearby? :)
