we want to meet micky mouse...what restaurant?

I am ruling out chef mickey, as we found it really hard to travel there (changing from bus to monorail). BUt my kiddies want to eat with mickey, so would you recommend cape may ot tusker (food and interactions).

Mickey is not at Cape May, just Minnie, Donald and Goofy.

We like Garden Grill at Epcot. Easy for our tour plan and it's nice that it is served family style so no getting up for the buffet. The menu is a set menu, so if you don't like the offering, it may not be right for your family. The children are brought out roasted drumsticks and they have a choice of some other sides as I recall. I think my daughter had mac n cheese as her side. Of course, this restaurant is only for dinner.

We are going to try Tusker House this upcoming trip, so we'll see. I've heard good things about the b-fast there.

I agree with the pp, Garden Grill is really nice and peaceful. The character interactions have been great each time we have gone there. I do like Tusker House also. It's one of my favorite meals and the character interaction was fun there as well. Garden Grill is only open for dinner though so I don't know if that limits your plans, whereas, Tusker House with characters would be breakfast only.

Just a thought on Chef Mickeys, if you are spending the day at MK it's just a short monorail, boat or even walk to CR so you could do it without having to take a bus to monorail transfer. Also if you time it right before the fireworks they have a great deck on the 4th floor for viewing. Just a thought.

The first place I thought of as well was Garden Grill. I love it. I also LOVE that they bring the food to you and you don't have to chase your children around a buffet. It's great!

I've never done Tusker House, but we also like Chef Mickey's. It does make me a little crazy there though.

Our favorite place to see Mickey is ohanas breakfast at the Polynesian. There is Mickey, Pluto, LILO and stitch. They serve your breakfast family style so no buffet to have to go back and forth to and they have Mickey waffles. The food is really good here and the character interaction is always great! They have a special juice there that is unique to Ohanas and a sweet bread that comes out first. You could even eat here and then do magic kingdom or like us go on our last day before we head home when we are not visiting a park.

the PP was referencing the Ohana breakfast which is served family style and not a buffet. It's fun and quite loud (as are most of them).

We do Chef Mickey's very trip on our departure day. It's the easiest way to say goodbye to all of the characters. But we're looking for more than just Mickey. My daughter loves Pluto and Minnie is the only character with whom my wife insists on having a picture.

The Contemporary is really very convenient. We stayed there one time simply for its location. Our son was three and the MK and Epcot were going to be our focus. My wife was seven months pregnant and the proximity allowed us to walk if the monorail lines were too long. We did walk on that trip and have continued to so on subsequent trips.

I wouldn't let the location stop me from going to CM. If it is a problem for you the Ohana breakfast would also be out as it is harder to reach than CM. That leaves Tusker House breakfast or Garden Grill dinner. We have been to TH and can recommend it. We have not been to GG.

Tusker House all the way. IMO it's the best character meal at Disney World. The food is fabulous and it's the only meal with Daisy too.

so it sounds like you need to decide if you'd prefer Dinner (Garden Grill), or Breakfast (Tusker House). We just did Tusker House last week and it was really good and they have an awesome photo package that you can get with Donald (I think it was $30 for an 8x10 in a cool frame and (4) 4x6s. The only thing is, due to where we were seated, it took forever for the characters to get to us. We were all done eating before the 1st character got to our table (they go in a specific order to the tables).

My first choice to meet Mickey would be CM. I thought the character interaction here was superior. But since you have ruled this out, Tusker House would be my second choice.

We really liked the breakfast at Tusker. Lots of good character time with the major players (Mickey, Goofy, Minnie, Donald, Daisy) and the buffet was good. We also liked shaking things up by eating breakfast at the Animal Kingdom and not a resort.

Definitely go the extra mile for Chef Mickey's. The food is not amazing or anything, but the experience is definitely worthwhile. It's memorable, and definitely an awesome Disney experience to try.

While we've enjoyed Chef Mickey's on our trips, we have enjoyed Tusker House and Garden Grill as well. Garden Grill was probably my personal favorite. You can't go wrong with either one. Choose Tusker House if you'll be paying out-of-pocket (breakfast is cheaper) and Garden Grill if you'll be on the dining plan (better value).
