We Want to Go to DISNEY, not the Beach! Updated ADRs 5/1

I like your second choice of upgrades much better than the first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Careful though, you'll have a hard time staying elsewhere after the lure of SAB, walking to Epcot and DHS and the Boardwalk!

GREAT change!

WOO-HOO!!! Congrats on the Board Certification and for your decision to change your resort! You will love, love, love the Beach Club and I see you have already made it over to the FAQ thread, so I look forward to seeing you over there..

And all of you have made me feel so welcome over there! Thanks so much for being so patient with my questions!

It made me chuckle thinking about your PTR title- now you can tell the kids they are getting BOTH!!!

I know, right?!?

The dining lineup looks fantastic for your stay. But will they stick??? We loved the meals at Cape May and Captain's Grille and they are soooooo convenient. As are the EPCOT restaurants.

Well, kind of. I cancelled Yachtsman because I have had a bad experience there. I still am debating a replacement, but I think maybe something in Epcot?

Not sure if you are planning on using your car to get around, or will mostly rely on Disney Transportation, but the best way to get directly to MK is by bus, because they drop off right at the entrance, not the TTC.

Look forward to hearing more exciting details of your trip.

Thanks! We'll have our car, but we never drive to MK--just more inconvenient. Either way you go, you take Disney transportation, so might as well be dropped off up front. Even with the busy Port Orleans buses, it was always better to take Disney transport to MK. So, that leaves us AK, and DTD, which we'll most likely drive to. It'll be nice to park the car and not look at it for days at a time.

I can't wait to hear about the kids playing at Stormalong Bay. My BFF stayed there once with her 9 YO neice and she LOVED it!

I think they will love it! I like the looks of Boardwalk, and it would be really my first choice, if not for the CLown slide. I just. Can't. Do. It.

:goodvibes great update. I don't know how many times I have already changed my ADRs, I find it fun changing ADRs. Your ADRs look great.

Thanks, Hallie!

I know--Beach Club is really my dream resort. I love Cape May Cafe, the pool, the light, airy, beachy feel. Reminds me of home as much as POR does. I could even deal with a Juliet balcony, as long as I'm there with a pretty view, which I think I'd get with a Garden View (and I'm hoping for peacefulness, as well)

You mentioned over on the FAQ thread that you weren't going to add a request to your reservation- I think you should reconsider and put on a request for a full balcony. If you are not requesting anything else, and if there is nothing else important to you, like location, then you might as well have it on there. Does no harm. Be prepared for the Juliet balcony, but increase your odds. Plus follow the checkin advice on the thread- checkin in person, not online.

I took your advice--I requested a full balcony. I don't want to set myself up for disappointment, though, because I think I will be happy wherever I am. But sitting on the balcony with my husband in the morning with our cups of coffee would be nice.

Um yeah... about the clown slide... if we have the time or the weather to hit up the hot tub, we'll be doing so at night so that thing isn't staring at us! :sad2:

I'm subscribing! I just booked my stay at BC yesterday. Congrats on your NBC! I know how much hard work it is to get that, so great job. And where I live, those stipends are a nice and welcome addition to a teacher's salary. Definitely a reason to celebrate at Disney.
We were teetering between a beach vacay and a Disney stay, too, but we can make a quick weekend trip to FL anytime we want. I'll take the best of both worlds at Disney!!

I understand. I hate that a whole resort that I think I would love is out because of the clown slide. But it is.

That was our point--we live 45 min from Myrtle Beach and may do a couple days there anyway. NBC has been great for us--I haven't seen the stipend yet, but I am certain I will soon.

Stick around! and :welcome:

We've been to Disney in all four seasons: Winter, when it's cool to sometimes cold, Spring, which can feel like summer at times, Summer, which is like a slap you in the face hot, and Fall, which can be like summer, but very rarely like winter. We've experienced the full gamut of Disney related weather. And we started our Disney adventures in the Winter of 2007. January 31-February 4, 2007, to be exact. It's hard to believe that until 4 years ago, I had never been on Disney property. In fact, I did not know until we got there whether I was going to Disney World or Disneyland. Don't laugh at me. I knew no better. I also really did not want to go because I thought we could not afford the trip. Dan convinced me it was a "once in a lifetime thing" and he would make sure we could afford it. We drove on site at midnight on January 31 (now Feb 1), to Pop Century Resort. Sadly, I kept in photobucket few of these pictures, but I do remember how we did things:

Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007:

The morning began with a little girl (Boo) exclaiming she was ready to go see "Monkey Mouse". That name has stuck with her as a second nickname, and today my husband tells me that it's "shame on me" that she was 4 years old before she knew who Mickey Mouse was. He's right. Shame on me.

We had breakfast at Trail's End buffet. We visited the horses in the Fort Wilderness area, and then saw something that stopped me in my tracks:

I was in heaven. We spent all day there, never going back to the room. We ate dinner at Crystal Palace and enjoyed the Disney atmosphere.

Friday, Feb. 2, 2007:

Hollywood Studios. Boo woke up not feeling that well that morning. In hindsight, she probably had a touch of acid reflux that never really left her that day. That morning, my memory card on my camera failed, and we went to a Walgreens where I purchased another. We also had breakfast at Ponderosa.

From there, we had an amazing day. I still miss the Stars and Motor Cars Parade.

Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007:

Epcot.

I fell in love with this place. Soarin, Living with the land, and the World Showcase. It was such a vibrant place, and we all enjoyed eating our way around the world.

Our Last day--Animal Kingdom.

What can I say about Animal Kingdom? Really, most of what we did here was the shows--Tough to be a Bug, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and the Safari. We also spent a good amount of time in the Boneyard. It was so much fun spending time there.

Before we knew it, though, it was over.

Our once in a lifetime trip was over and every heart was breaking. Yes--all of us. I learned quickly about the Disney Low or depression. I caught the bug. And it's all dh's fault, lol.

Coming up, further visions of Disney Past:

October 2008
June/July 2009
December 2009

Wow- loved the highlights of your first trip to Disney. Your beautiful pictures and wonderful descriptions really capture your family engaged in the magic.

I had two "first trips" to Walt Disney World. The first was my high school graduation trip the April after EPCOT opened. I'll let you do the research and math if you are desperate to figure out my age! I was accompanied by my boyfriend (now husband)- we loved it and subseqently took several trips as a couple to DW.

Our second first trip was in August 2004, when the boys were 6 and 3. It's a whole new kettle of fish when you experience Disney with your kids.

I had a little catching up to do!! Congrats on the Beach Club!! I hope to stay there and Boardwalk one day! But I must agree that the clown pool is :scared1:!! I love the Boardwalk's lobby and grounds and that pool somehow just doesn't fit in to me!!

I love the walk down memory lane! I have one more installment on my PTR of the past....if I can ever get my "real life" act together!! :rotfl:

With the kids is definitely different than without! I really fell in love with the place within the first few hours there.

Thanks! I think I'll try the Boardwalk resort sometime when I don't need/want to go to the pool. Perhaps for a Christmas trip. . .

I really enjoyed hearing about your 1st trip. I'm glad you gave us your Disney background. I had no idea your love and knowledge of Disney just started in 2007.

Thanks, hon! Isn't it strange--it seems like I've loved Disney for forever!

I have never really been a fan of Halloween. That may come as to some surprise. I just don't though. The days before Halloween seem so warm to me, and it's right after Halloween the cold sets in. So, although I like the idea of the celebrations for Halloween, I don't like the signal that it's almost time for the weather to change.

So planning a trip for Halloween took a little getting used to. Originally, the October 2008 trip was to be an August 2008 trip. Unfortunately, this had to be changed, but moving got us our first chance at a room only discount. We took the money, and got the Deluxe Dining Plan.

YOu know the one--the dining plan where you start out the week wearing one size. . .

And when the trip is over, your waistline has stretched through 2 more?

That one.

We stayed in the least expensive location for a family of five. . .Port Orleans-Riverside, and fell in love.

Of course, getting a room in Building 15 helped. . .

It made the bus stop so much closer. . .

And who could forget our highlights?

By now, I had the bug well and good. And when we left this time, it was not an if we went back. It was when. And you know what? The kids and I would only have to wait 8 months.

I have not made it to Downtown Disney yet. Are those Lego dogs?

Just read through the beginnings of your PTR, and I'm subscribing! Your description of POR was so great (makes me even more excited to get there this May), but I'm glad you got to upgrade :goodvibes

I love all of the pictures of your family and your Disney memories. Can't wait to hear more about your planning...

Yes, the Lego dogs are cute. Now I want to see them.
I love Spectromagic.
