The kids had a day off of school for conferences yesterday. We did conferences in the morning and then made the 90 minute trip to St. Paul where the All Star game is going to be this year. They had this All Star FANtasy thing going on and we got in line to get our picture taken with the Cup!! They had a bunch of stuff to do (and buy;) ) and we had a blast! You could even have a trading card made in your favorite team sweater-FREE! DS got his as a member of the Wild, even though he debated about the Avalanche. Forsberg's his favorite player. And dd and ds got to pretend to be sportscasters and they gave them each a FREE videotape of their short performance.
We saw Barry Melrose from ESPN and that other guy that I can't remember the name of- The good-looking one.;)
Then we went across the street to see the Ice Palace. DD9 proclaimed it "amazing" and DS8 said it was "sweet."
Pretty good day!
If you are looking for something to do this weekend and are close enough to the Twin Cities, go check out the AllStar stuff and teh Winter Carnival!

I have been fortunate enough to see Lord Stanley on three occasions, but only was allowed to touch it the first time. I guess that's better than nothing. As a lifelong hockey fan it was a thrill.

Those events are lots of fun. I attended NHL FANtasy when it was in Boston, and I have gone to the baseball version in Boston AND San Diego. I would say "amazing" and "sweet" pretty much sum it up.

Very cool. I touched the Cup once, too. Truly an amazing trophy with an amazing history.

What a fun day! :D
Silly as it sounds, just seeing that cup is awesome. Jay Pandolfo from the Devils is from a neighboring town and both times hes won it, hes brought it to the town common, for pictures, autographs, etc... I never waited in line to see him, but got some great pictures of that Cup! ;)

As a RED WINGS fan, I have had a few opportunities to "touch the cup" and it IS amazing!!!
